Hi Ladies and Gents.... So it is now about 10 plus months for us and I was wondering what ( if any ) complications or problems you are having? I am still having problems with an anstomotic ulcer ( the connection between pouch and intestines) it can be very painful ( like now ) and I will be having another Endo in a week or two. Sometimes it is so bad my diaphram goes into spasams and it can feel liek a heart attack. Still having periods of vomiting unrelated to volumn or food type. One day I can eat PB and be fine the next it comes up. It sure makes meal planning an adventure. Hair loss finally has stopped! Nixoin is the greatest.. wish I had begun using it sooner! Sometimes all the attention to food is overwhelming! I feel like I am always eating ...... but when i really take count I am not eating a lot. So OK at most I can eat 1/2 a toasted english muffin with PB....... I can't remember the last time I could eat one whole egg! 1/2 a grilled cheese, or on a good day 1 to 2 oz cooked meat. ( of course those are just examples of types and amounts of food I eat...... I do eat "meals" as the plan calls for ) so I do get a blanced day (nutrition wise) My blood work has been OK sort of... ... some confusion as to weather I do have low Vit.B's but other testing said everything was ok. Blood work every six weeks :| and my skin is like leather and the techs have a hard time getting the needle in.... so I now dread having blood work done! And the last issue is GAS.... upper intestional, that can cause another sort of very painful chest pain or belching! At least this I can help with a heating pad. I moved a few months ago and I realy miss the post op group I had. I am going back there a week after the next endo to see my surgeon for my one year FU! and I'd like to have some idea of what is "normal" for US! Thanks Lisa

Hi Lisa, Sorry to hear that you are having a hard time. Hope that you find answers to what is causing your problems and have them fixed for good. I had an ulcer just after surgery and was placed on Carafate for 6 really long weeks!!!! It cleared and I haven't had any problems since. Like you I sometimes feel as if I'm eating a lot but when I really think and write it's nothing!!!! However, I know there are things that I can't or won't even try eating!!! like PB and eggs, creamed soups and other creamy things. My blood work is fine and I'm preparing for plastic surgery (tummy tuck). I wish you all the best and hope that your get better. Keep us posted. Peace and blessings, Marcy

Thanks for the reply Marcy! Good luck on the TT! My MD won't clear me until at least 6 months at goal and I have about 20 pounds to go. I have had ulcers for a LONG LONG TIME sometimes I think I was born with them! Carafate, 4 x a day (YUCK ) that and three other meds and still not healing quite right. I also have a pre-op condition called gastroparahisis ( paralysed stomache) a complication from diabeties. I can't wait to see MY SURGEON The MD (a gastro MD) in this new state is OK but I am not sure he really understands GB, sometimes I need to remind him that my pouch is tiny. He thinks I should be eating MORE! I have agreed to meet with the nutritionist in his office, and he is going to cal my surgeon so I guess it just takes time. Again GOOD LUCK withthe TT! How exciting! Lisa

Lisa: I had a anstomotic ulcer ( the connection between pouch and intestines) and on March 12th, it almost killed me, when it ruptured silling my stomach acid and hot coffee I was drinking into my body outside the walls of my stomach. I was in ICU and on life support after emergency surgery. But since then my ulcer has healed. It took a long time, but I am doing fine these days. only problem is I haven't been losing anymore weight since I had my last surgery to stitch up the ulcer. I even joined a gym and work out more then I was and the scale has not budged even an Oz. I do have problem with gas, but I use Gas X, and that helps. I think maybe it is all the dairy product I use to get in my protein that cause a lot of it for me. Tammy
