Ok guys...I need MAJOR :h...
Ok guys...I need MAJOR . My surgery was 8/4/04, and I have done great (lost 130lbs), down from 335#. But lately, I can't seem to get myself together. I'm going through the "I ate this so now I'm pissed, so I'll eat some more" scenario. Today I had 3 ice cream cones, caramels, pretzels, nachos and salsa, a slice of pizza, a hamburger with bun and one protien shake. WHAT am I doing???????? I am starting to get really scared ;( Any advice??
Donna
Donna,
I can relate to your feelings. Now that I am able to eat more, I find myself wanting more- not needing it, just wanting it. The good thing is that you NOTICED it right away and realize that you need to take control. I know in my pre-op days, I would have just kept eating that way without acknowledging it until I had gained some serious weight.
You can't change what you ate, but you can do something about it today. First- forgive yourself. Next- get back on track with what you are eating today. Last- step up your exercise today to help you recover from your slip.
We know this isn't going to be easy, but we CAN do it. Look how far you have come already! Don't let yourself down- be strong and fight for what you want.
Good luck and have a GREAT day
Michelle
Donna - OH CAN I RELATE!!!! My first question to you is...Is it your time of the month??? I find that I can eat myself into oblivian during that time of the month, and it only lasts that week. Sounds to me like you can tolerate sugar just as much as I can as well. Are you hungry? I know I feel constantly hungry. All I can tell you is...don't buy the stuff that you find yourself falling slave to. If you are going to eat...and eat a lot of stuff, try stuff like cheese, nuts, vegetables like celery and carrots. Try to increase your water intake maybe that will keep the munchies away...don't really know...just trying to help! I'm in the same boat right now, so maybe we can just try to get through this together. I have lost 107-115 lbs...depending on the day and the week and it has been that way for the past month...SO FRUSTRATING!!!!
Keep in touch...

Judy...
Thanks so much for the input. Yes, it seems to be one day a month or so that I do this. Funny thing is that I've lost 8 lbs since that episode a few days ago...go figure. I did however, jump right back on track the very next day. My doctor said I may have needed the calories to jump start my weight loss...may have been in starvation mode. He said the same thing...when this happens try to stick to the nuts, cheese, meat...etc.
Thanks so much for your kind words...I really appreciate it.
Well first of all, congratulations on all of the weight loss!!!
As I'm sure you've heard... this surgery is a tool, not a solution... the important thing is you're conscious of the mistakes you've made today... that's the 1st step. The next step is to get down right mean with yourself... while we all make mistakes from time to time, the important thing is to STOP yourself as soon as possible!!!
Try to stop and think about WHY you had the surgery in the 1st place, how much better you feel since having the surgery, how great you look, how many compliments you've received, and how no matter what, you DON'T want to fail... Then try to repeat to yourself "NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS THIN FEELS" over and over until you believe it.
Remember, we have a pretty limited time that the surgery will help us, after that, it's all entirely up to us and our will power. Believe me, I'm not trying to get down on you... I've been there before, and this is what's worked for me... sometime you just have to be a hard a$$ with yourself.
Maybe think about what you'd tell one of us who had done the same thing... and remember this, every day is a new one, so just because you've slipped a little, there's time to pick yourself back up and get back on the wagon, so to speak.
Lots of love,
Dawn
I agree with jaimie, i could never eat that much in one day. But the good thing is that you know where you're going wrong and now you need to fix it. make yourself something healthy and keep it in the fridge for when you get the urge to snack. I hope everything gets better for you, you've come so far in this journey to turn back now.
Hugs

Hi Donna. I hope today is going better for you. I think all of us are probably freaking over what we can handle now compared to the last several months. Everybody has a bad day now and again. That said, how are you doing with your workouts? I find that the more exercize (biking, walking, pilates or whatever) I get, the easier my bad eating habits are to keep in check. Success breeds success. Tomorrow, tell yourself you'll get in all your water or something like that. I think pretty soon you'll be back in the groove. BTW, my eating is far from perfect, don't be so hard on you. Hugs, barb
