Calorie intake?
I am wondering about how many calories you are all taking in a day. I seem to be taking in on average 1200-1300 calories a day and am starting to wonder if I'm eating too much as my weight loss has really stalled...so...
1. About how many calories do you take in on an average day?
2. How many times a day do you eat?
3. How many of those are meals and how many are snacks?
Thanks a bunch!!
Here are my answers...
1. about 1200-1300 calories a day
2. 6 times
3. 3 meals and 3 snacks

You are definitely no eating too much! My nutritionist wants me to stay between 1200-1400 calories a day. As far as a stall...I'm with you on that one...HOWEVER...everyone keeps assuring me that my body just has to catch up and it needs a rest...my scale finally starting moving again, with not much of anything since the beginning of April.
As far as calories go...are you tracking your fat and your protein as well...I'm supposed to stay UNDER 50g of fat and eat AT LEAST 65g of protein everyday...I do ok with staying under the fat grams, but I'm finding it difficult to get in the 65g a day at times...also WATER!
I typically drink 120 oz. a day (recommended is 64 oz), I haven't been doing that so much lately, that is probably another reason for my stall.
ok...so now...here are my answers
1. 1200-1400 calories a day
2. 4-6 times
3. 3 meals and 1-3 snacks, depends on the day.
I'm going to add a 4...WATER????
4. Was doing 120 oz....right now...probably only about 16oz...THIS COULD BE A PROBLEM!!!
Hope that helps!

Oh good one...water is definately a factor. I easily get in 80g+ of protein a day...but I start every morning out with a protein shake that gives me 34g of protein. I think my fat grams are around the 65g....depends on what I eat that day. I do know that my carbs have been up lately...but I've been eating more fruit...so it's natural carbs...not the refined ones. I still don't really eat bread, tortillas (ocassionally), rice , or pasta (rare occasions). As for water I get in at least the recommended 64oz...but usually get in around 80+oz.
Thanks for the input. I think I'll make an appt. with my nutritionist to see how on track I am...

Oh...I still want to see how others are doing too!!!
Hi Kristy!
I eat 5-6 times a day. I consider each time to be a meal. My total calories seem to average 1100 calories per day, + or - 100 cal. on any given day. I, too, sometimes worry that I'm eating too much. I always have at least 60 grams of protein and 100 oz. of water. I am not sure about the amount of carbs or fats. I probably have too many carbs, though. Maybe 40 grams a day for the carbs.
My weight loss seems to go in a pattern every month. I lose a couple of pounds at the beginning of the month and then hold for the next 10 days. Then I lose about 5-6 pounds at the end of the month. Right now I'm in the 10 day holding pattern. Every month I get a bit anxious even though I know this is what my body does. Still, I have lost 8-12 pounds every month so far.

Kristy,
Great question.....can I ask you for some advice?
When you eat out, what do you get?
My work goes out once a week and I find myself taking my own lunch. I do not want to do that anymore....like at Del Taco and places, what do you get?
As far as your poll goes, here are my answers....
1. About how many calories do you take in on an average day? 1200 or so, sometimes I do as low as 600...depends on the day!
2. How many times a day do you eat? 4-5
3. How many of those are meals and how many are snacks? 1-2
Thanks a bunch!!
I try to avoid fast food places as much as possible. Usually when DH and I go out it's to a restaraunt where we can split a meal. I usually order steak/prime rib dinner and since we split it....it's not that expensive. Lately though our kick has been Mexican food...I don't know why but I've been on a chicken quesadilla kick. So we'll go and I'll order the chicken quesadilla lunch with all beans and take the rest home for left overs. If we end up going to a fast food joint...it depends on where we go. Normally we'll go to either Taco Bell (DH doesn't like Del Taco) or Wendy's. At Taco Bell I'll order either the chicken quesadilla w/ no sauce or if I'm feeling naughty I'll order a nacho supreme w/ extra cheese. At Wendy's...it's the chili w/ extra cheese. I've tried a few of the burger places...but find that I no longer like the burgers...all I seem to taste is the fat...blech! And fried food just upsets my little pouchy...if DH is craving a burger...we go to Wendy's...or he goes alone.

I was eating 1200-1300 and had a bit of a plateau, so I decreased it down to 1000. Sure enough, lost 2-3lbs this last week after 2weeks with no loss. I think just decreasing it a bit in times of plateau's does help to kick start it back up and get the weightloss fairies workin'! The decrease in the cal's isn't bad at all, just gotta find more creative ways to get some good food in there with not as many carbs, etc. I did add more protein and water, but we all do that at some point to get things going.
1. 1000
2. 4 times
3. 3 meals, 1 snack (snack only allowed if its fruits :P ) I've been good about the snacks, but trust me, my prior snack was popcorn...so its been hard!

I'm a WLS loser that goes up and down the scale within 3-5 lbs. Some weeks I might loss 9 lbs, some 6, some 3 and some none. I go walking and it starts my losing process again immediately.
1. About how many calories do you take in on an average day?
Calories range between 400-700 per day (some days 180-300) I NEVER get close to 1000c. I count everything..
2. How many times a day do you eat?
3/4 times and I drink a lot of Crystal light & Water over 84oz
3. How many of those are meals and how many are snacks?
3 very small meals (like watermelon, half of a Wendy's salad, carrots or something like that). 2 snacks which are the carrots or 2/3 crackers. I ate a half of a kids hamburger on a family outing and gained 5 lbs (it seemed per the scale) and I got scared; so I try very hard to eat right. However, I find myself with low iron levels or pain in my left hand because of not eating alot but my Dr said it will get better. And Yes, I take my vitamins daily, too.

I really like this Aug. board; don't know why I don't make it more of a point to visit it. I generally check out the main board and hate to take even more time! I'm glad to read everyone's answers to this question!
My dietician (at the surgeon's office) said that about 1200-1400 are fine--and this was at my 6-mo. check-up. At that time, I was rarely getting more than 1000-1200, but now I'm eating more like 1100-1400. I very rarely actually keep track, but once in awhile if my weight gets stuck, I go back to writing things down and adding them up to see my cals & protein counts. I don't count fat grams or carbs--I just pay attention to eating protein first and watching that my carbs are low (& are healthy ones).
I eat 5-6 times a day. 3 regular meals, 2-3 snacks. My snacks always contain some kind of protein (i.e., wedge of apple w/ some p.b. smeared on it, a little cottage cheese w/ couple slices peaches, couple crackers w/ cheese, etc.)
My weight loss has slowed dramatically in the last few mo., but I know that's very normal. The longest I've been stuck is about 3 wks. I often wobble b/w 1-2 lbs. for several days or even a week before dropping another couple. I'm just so thrilled about my total loss that I try not to get too impatient about the quirky way it's coming off at this point.
