I almost got picked up in a bar!
I couldn't believe it. Let me say this first...I'm married...happily married, and would NEVER be picked up in a bar...however, I was recently flattered!!!!
My husband and I live above a restaurant. When I got home from work on Sunday night, I told him I really would like to have a glass of wine before I went to bed, since we didn't have any we decided to go the bar at the restaurant we live above. My husband took the dog in the apartment, along with my work apron and my coat, and I went in and ordered myself a glass of wine, and my hubby a beer. There was no one there except one man sitting at the corner of the bar. I obviously didn't really take much notice of him. My husband arrived and we enjoyed a drink together. The bartender (whom we've seen on occasion) told me how awesome I looked, and asked how much weight I had lost...and of course I had my pictures with me...so I pulled them out and he looked through and commented how fabulous I looked. The gentlemen on the other side of the bar took a gander too. He said, you really do look great...I have to admit...when you walked in...I checked to see if you had wedding rings on...
never...in all my life...I mean never...had anyone give me such a great compliment...that man made my night...my husband wasn't too thrilled....
I told him he would never have to worry...because I loved him and I would NEVER allow anyone to take me away from him!!!!
JUDY
I feel the same way, bout my hubby Judy. But didn't it make you feel good to know that "Wow so thats what that feels like". My hubby is dealing with this alot when men notice me now. He knows he is safe, Hello we have been married for almost 7 years now and he has been deployed for almost half of that and I am still here, always have been always will be. Thats also a reason I went and had my wedding rings sized early will probably have to do it again but thats ok.
Hey Jude,
That's so awesome!!! I know you'd never even notice another guy, but sometimes it feels good to be noticed! It's funny how now, men will hold the door open for me (whereas before they pretended not to see me), and sometimes they even engage me in conversation! HA! I laugh because some of those guys were the same ones who used to ignore me... like I'd pay any attention to THEM now!
The funniest thing to me is when I'm on the freeway commuting to school and I see different guys trying to "check me out" as they're driving beside me. On Sunday, this guy was about ripping his neck off to check me out and then tried to ride right along side of me... when I glanced over he nodded his head and grinned. I just stepped on the gas. When I looked in my rearview, he had his WIFE in the passenger seat! THE JERK!!!!!
It does feel good to be noticed, we're only human! Your dear hubby has nothing to worry about, just like mine... they loved us at our worst and stood beside us through all of this- how could we ever even THINK about anyone else? Most women are incredibly loyal, and especially since our hubbies are paying even more attention to us now!!!!! Anyways, keep up the good work!
Lots of love,
Dawn
hehehe...it rocks, doesn't it!
I went out to a club with friends this past weekend. Last time I had been to a club was long time ago because I just didn't feel very "up to it". Sure enough I figured I should go with friends and just have a good time. Let's just say that my friends are very cute, and I was the big girl in the group. I've always had confidence in my walk (hey, gotta work with what you got) but used to just hanging out, dancing with friends, and not really there to "be picked up". Sure enough, went to the club this weekend and was getting asked to dance and just on top of the world.
Life is good!
I've had similar experiences to Norma.
The girls in my hubby's family actually started a monthly "girls night out" around January. As the months go by, I get more drinks bought for me (hey, saves me and hubby some dough!) and more offers to dance (yeah, I take 'em up on 'em too!).
I too was always the "fat friend" and would always watch guys try to pick up my friends. It's very flattering now to be at a table with 4-8 women and be the one picked to dance.
