Exercise Poll - How much per week?
Hello August friends! I was just wondering if everyone in our "month" was exercising regularly, and I thought I'd take an informal poll.
1. What do you do for exercise?
2. How many times a week do you exercise? How long?
I work out at Curves for Women at least 3 times a week. It's a 30-minute workout on a circuit of machines and aerobic activity. Sometimes I squeeze in a 4th visit, and sometimes I get a little walking in. But, on a REGULAR basis, I do the Curves thing.
Thanks for sharing with me.

I go to the gym 3 days a week. I do the bike for 20 minutes (can't walk much b/c of a bad hip) and then I do 2 reps of 15 on 15 different machines. When I got measured on 4/14 I found out that I've lost a total of 20.5 pounds and 19 inches since 2/9!
Since it's finally starting to warm up a bit here, I'm actually skipping the routine on Saturday's and doing the whole pool, hot tub, steam room, and sauna thing. I need to build up the muscles around my hip before I get it replaced on 6/13 and the water helps that a lot!
I'm now 158 from 288. Yep... I've lost 130 pounds in less than 9 months! I'm only 18 away from my primary goal. With all of the flab on my gut, I bet I'd lose most of that with a TT! *LOL*
Hi Laura,
I go to the gym 4 days a week. I do about 20-30 minutes of weight training and 30 minutes of Eliptical or treadmill. On Sat. I do about 90 minutes of weights, 30 min of Eliptical and a nice sauna!
I work up a big sweat, I don't think you're really exercising for calorie burn unless you are working hard enough to sweat.
Without exercise, I don't think I would be at 98 pounds lost. I have an incredibly slow metabolism. The muscle I'm gaining is helping with that.

I need help. I do not exercise on regular basis. I have always hated to exercise and I still do. How can I get my mind into exercising? I know I love how I feel and I know I would feel even better if I could get to goal. I have lost 120 lbs and I have another 80 lbs to go. I have been at a stand still for a month so I have not dropped a lb. But the good news is I have not gained either. I want to keep this weight loss moving but I seem to be stuck.
Please give me advice on how to get mind into exercising. I think if I could get on a routine that would help. But I do it for one or two days and then something happens like I have to work late and if I miss one day I am done for. I can't seem to get back on track. I started parking at the back of the parking lot but that is about it. Please help.
You know, this is a real problem for a lot of people. You are not alone!
I like the Curves workout because I like being with other people....and the circuit is quick and easy and lots of fun when we all get talking and laughing about something. It's a close, caring group of ladies who like to have fun. We even have nights out and go to local baseball games, movies, etc.
Maybe you should grab a friend and get walking? That's a really easy way to start moving and get in shape. It's an excellent excuse to move your body and also spend quality time with a good friend....who surely wants to help you and also spend that time with you. Right?
Thinking about exercising doesn't even exercise your brain. You've got to move the body and you know it! So......it's really up to you! Be creative and have fun. Whatever you do is better than nothing at all....and you'll feel SO MUCH BETTER when you start moving again! I promise!
Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Well, I still struggle off and on. I usually end up blowing off the gym once a week. Tonight for instance. So I guess in utmost honesty I only exercise three times week even though I shoot for four. Three days of step aerobics and one day of water aerobics.
I also sometimes leave the step class after the actual aerobics and don't stay for the floor work, but I'm working on changing that, too. Despite the fact that I seem to be being hard on myself in this post, I really am very proud of the changes I HAVE made. I didn't exercise at all before WLS!!
Thanks for asking this question. I've enjoyed reading the responses!

Hey 2 days a week is probably better than you use to do right ! If we make it a chore that isn't good mental wise so do what you like if floor excersises arn't what you like don't do them is my moto. You know what i started doing because i am usually home alone at night just me and my dog till my hubby gets home after second shift , so i dance i find good dancing music and dance for 20 to 30 minutes and that makes me sweat worse than going out and working on the bow flex or strider. I ddo do those once in a while to but i actually enjoy dancing to my own beat. My dog well he looks at me like wow you are weird here let me hold your feet down i will lay on them for you. Crazy dog. But find something you enjoy even going to a park and throw basket balls at a hoop or walk around the mall a lot and if you shop then your carrying your weights wow now that is fun, if you walk fast enough to the next store you might even sweat. Like if you go to one store at one end you see something you want but make your self walk to the other end of the mall to look at something else then go back to the other end to get what you really wanted. We can be creative your doing good though just enjoy each pound you see leave know it is gone for good ok. Vicki
