I know we aren't supposed to, but I wanted to take a poll to see if anyone did. JUDY

Judy: I take a sip once in a while not everytime I eat or anything, and I never just go a head and take full drinks. Just enough to wash something down sometimes. Tammy

I usually drink a few sips during my meals just to help wash everything down. Cyn

I don't drink enough as it is.....so I drink whenever I'm thirsty..even during meals. Lost 74 pounds since Aug 30th.

Yes, I drink while I eat. Hasn't caused a problem yet, but I'm starting to be able to eat a lot more so I'll probably have to crack down on it soon. ---- Leslie 282/185/135

before would sip here and there with meals but then got to the point of "drinking" with meals. I too noticed that i would eat more and get hungrier quicker so cracked it down to sips, if needed. I do sip a few times with meals, just can't stop that one...need something to wa**** down with norma g. 255/169/140

I have had a sip if something is too hot or too dry but otherwise no drinking with my meals and I usually wait an hour after before I do drink something. That's my surgeons guidelines. Christie 338/231/170

Nope, stop drinking anything at least 30 min. before a meal, then don't drink anything for 45-60 min. after a meal.

Our program requires that patients stop drinking 30 minutes before they are going to eat and then wait 45 minutes to an hour to eat again after drinking. I have been doing pretty good following this. I do wait 45 minutes after I eat to drink again (most of the time...I'm not perfect). I have a hard time with having to stop drinking 30 minutes before the meal. I don't know why, but this trips me up. I consider the after part more important anyway, as the sole purpose was not to push the food out of the pouch too fast. I never was too clear on the reasons we had to wait 30 minutes to eat after drinking. Not to say that I have to undersatnd every rule in order to abide by it, as I take my post-op diet stuff seriously, but this never really did make sense to me. Once in awhile I will sip with a meal but generally, I do my best to stick to the 45 minutes. I need all the protein I can get and the thought of it just washing out of my pouch because of water is enough of a deterrant for me. Hugs, Denise
