Hey Everyone! I figured since no one had started a thread for those of us who had surgery on 8/3, I'd do the honors. I wonder how others feel, but for me, it seems like it's been a LOT longer than a meer 7 months. Everytime I look at my "before" picture I can't even imagine being that size. I am truly in awe when I see the progress I've made. I don't weigh as often now. It's probably been about a week since I last hit the scale (I don't own one). Since then, I have lost 111 pounds! I only need to lose 37 more to reach my goal weight of 140. I may try to go a tad lower, but for now, 140 sounds great! I finally started going to the gym about a month ago. After only 6 visits I lost 7.75 pounds and 8 inches! There was a time when a standard tape measurer (60 inches) wasn't big enough and now I have a 37 inch waist! It's great differences in numbers like that which leave me speechless (something I'm rarely known to be). *LOL* I am going to attach 3 links to the bottom of my post. The first one is my "before" pic. The next two are front and side views from today. So, if there are any other 8/3'ers out there, please stop in and update and let us all know how you're doing and feeling! ~Michelle BEFORE WLS: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/shellymoe/before_WLS.jpg 7 MONTHS POST-OP (FRONT VIEW): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/shellymoe/30305shelly7mospostopf.jpg 7 MONTHS POST-OP (SIDE VIEW): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v327/shellymoe/30305shelly7mospostops.jpg

Hi everyone! I am 7months (8/4). I have lost 101 lbs, but shockingly found out I was pregnant this past Monday. BIG SHOCK to us! But that's ok. I wanted to loose another 30lbs, but don't think I'll be doing that for the next 7.5 months. Oh well, just another "bump" in the road. But just wait till after the baby... I was 262 at my highest before surgery and now am 161. I don't ever do measurements, so I couldn't tell you what they are. I went from a size 24w to a size 10! I am amazed at the progress I have done and can't wait to have an easy pregnancy because I am now alot healthier than I was with my first 3 years ago. Glad to hear everyone is doing well, keep up the good work! Jen

Hello there! Congratulations! I'm a happy camper too. Been losing much slower lately, but just joined a gym with my buddies at work, so that should amp up my exercise a bit. Blessings! Jill 253/170/140

Wow Michelle! What a difference! I'm also a 8/3/04 date and so far have lost 105.5. I started at 254 and am down to 148.5 which puts me only 18.5 lbs away from goal (130 lbs.) I started in a size 26 jean and am now into a 6/8. My diabetes was just declared "cured" by my endocrinologist on Friday and my hypertension is pretty much gone! Also my sleep apena is gone! WOohoO!! Life is really good right now! I'm not sure of my inches as I can't seem to find the measuring tape right now...but hey...I fit into a 6!! I've NEVER been a 6!! I'm starting to wonder just how little (size wise) I'm going to get since I'm fitting into a 6/8 at 148.8. I bought a dress the other day and can almost zip it all the way up (bust gets in the way ) and it's a 4! :-8 I still have a fair amount of fat around my middle, but that's where I've always carried my weight. All in all I'm very happy with the results so far! Kristy 254/148.5/130

Hi, another 8/3 checking in! I am very pleased with my loss from 271 to 180. I am into 14s from 26/28s. I have to admit, I have not been to a gym in months, nor have I walked. I am caring for my parents, both on Hospice. I have had a week or so now and then staying the same weight, but then will drop 3-4 pounds in 2 days. I think the best thing is my self image. I can not believe my eyes when looking at a size 14 pants. They look so small! I do find myself returning to the big girl section of shops. Then it hits me, I can't wear those clothes! Last year this time I could hardly walk, now I care for two very ill folks! I no longer look for the closes parking space at shopping centers. I have skinny toes and fingers. It is the little things that amaze me. My grandchildren can reach all the way around me for a hug. Life is grand! Marla 271/180/145

I'm down 97 lbs now. I have about 50 more to go to reach my goal of 135. For the most part, I feel like I've "settled in" to this now. I'm not getting the extreme emotional highs and lows anymore and I'm not letting the scale rule my day. I weigh probably 2-3 times per week now instead of multiple times per day. I do still get anxious about my pet issues (for example, I'm still anxious about my clothing sizes not changing as quickly as I'd like them to--I'm still in a tight 18W at 5'3" and 185 lbs. The last time I weighed 185 I was in a regular 16. Guess gravity and 2 kids took their toll on my body shape since then!) But otherwise I feel very normal now and just try to keep everything in moderation. I don't count calories or grams or ounces--I just make sure to eat protein first at every meal and drink as much water as I can. Seems to be working; my six-month labs were great! I still go to the gym, but I'm lucky to get there 1-2 times per week these days instead of the 3-5 times per week I was going for awhile. I need to get back into it. I've had a couple of bouts with colds and respiratory yuckiness lately that have kept me from working out like I should. Now I'm behind on my work and struggling to make up for lost time, so I'm hoping to get back on track next week. ---- Leslie 282/185/135 (97 down, 50 to go! )
