Almost 6 months out and only lost 62 Lbs
I will be 6 months post op at the end of the month, and I have only lost 62 pounds. In the last 2 1/2 months I have only lost 10 pounds total. My weight loss has slowed down so much. I can't be eating to much, and I am always sure to get in my protein. Also I drink at least 100 oz. a day.
Anyone else dealing with this issue?
Hey there Tammy.
I am 6 1/2 mos out and have lost 74lbs. I am what is known as a slow loser. I was reassured by my surgeon that around 10lbs a month is 100% normal. It seems like it isn't alot though. Have you been exercising? I have found that since I started doing it on a regular basis that even though the scale doesn't go down much because muscle weighs more that fat that the inches are still coming off. I have kept my measurements since before surgery til now and you can see them going down each month. You are drinking a ton of water that is fabuous!!
I can get about 64 and thats it. 62lbs is a great weight loss and something to be proud of....
Keep the faith it will come off.

Cheri:
Thanks for responding. I do exercise, but have been thinking recently that I might have to increase it. I walk a mile a day, and stay as busy during the day as I can to help me burn calories, (this is an increase to what I did before surgery). My sister had the surgery too, and she is losing at about the same pace as I am, but I see other here have lost so much more then I have at this 6 month point. It gets discouraging sometimes, but I just try to tell myself, that at least I have come this far.
I think you are doing great. It gets discouraging, I agree. It is hard to stay positive sometimes, but don't compare yourself to others. Everyone is different. My sister had her surgery 2 weeks after me and she has lost 22lbs more than more but she is different than me and has a different lifestyle. When you increase your exercise just remember muscle weighs more than fat.... cause that can be a shocker when the scale doesn't move.
Keep up the good work.
Keep in mind that you also need to consider your starting weight, your body type and any other health factors.
I was losing very slowly in the beginning compared to my peers. Even now I find that at almost 6 months out, some of them are well over 100lbs lost and I am struggling to hit a loss of 90lbs.
The important thing is that every pound is a loss and it's not coming back!
Hang in there!
Jen
Hey Tammy, I had surgery August 31st. I have lost 60 pounds. My Dr. said that you lose slower if you have a lower starting weight. Mine was 218. You should not say ONLY 62 lbs. You should say wow I have lost 62 POUNDS! That is ALOT of weight to come off in 6 short months. Thats the way I look at it. Just think what we would weigh without the surgery. I would have probably gained 10 or 20 over the holidays. Can you remember the last time you lost weight over Thanksgiving and Christmas? We did this year! I think we are doing great. Keep doing what you are doing and just feel good about what you have done and not what you haven't! 10 pounds a month is alot of weight! And when you lose slower it gives your skin time to catch up some. Keep the Faith! We are so blessed!
Had surgery on Aug 30th. I have lost 68lbs. I only drank protein drinks the first month. I can't stand any. Also I have had only a few ounces of water since the surgery. I have never been a water drinker. I thought I was losing slow because of no protein (except in food) and no water. I do drink flavored carbonated water. I would of never been able to lose 68 lbs without the surgery and I know it will keep coming off slow which is alright with me...
Take care.......you are doing great
