We were told by a nurse practioner at support group that our hormones will go crazy for a while after WLS. I would definately check things out w/ your GYN tho. ~best, barb

A word about cramps......I have TERRIBLE cramps (always have, its nothing to do with my surgery!) and ibuprofren (Advil) works MUCH better than Tylenol becasue its a muscle relaxant. I know some docs don't allow ibuprofren after gastric bypass becasue it can upset your stomach so check with your doc. Mine gave me a prescription of Cytotec which I take twice a day when I'm taking ibuprofren so my stomach doesn't get upset. If you can take just a couple of Advils the day before your period it helps enourmously. I know sometimes its hard to predict for those of us not so regular but its not going to hurt you to take a couple of Advils for even a few days before your period. It beats having to take to your bed! Lisa Bartlett/TN 238/163 gastric bypass on Aug 11

Let me tell you my saga...I got the curse for the first time when I was nine (that's just not right!! ) and was regular from day one for 10 years. When I was 19 I started spotting on birth control pills and it was downhill from there. Long story short, I had to take pills to have a period which of course I rarely took. I went over 2 years without a cycle. After my surgery I had some spotting then in mid November I got a full blown period that was so heavy the first 3 days and cramping was horrible. The next month it was pretty heavy at times, but not quite as bad. I think it's about time to start again because I am breaking out everywhere and could eat a house if I'd let myself. I also recommend ibuprofen for cramps. Tylenol has never helped me with anything.
