I have lost 63 lbs. 289 down to 226. 63 lbs is a lot and I wondered if anyone else has a problem seeing that much of a weight loss? I mean I feel better.......my clothes have always been stretchy material so I can still wear most of them. They are looser but I just think that they are stretched out......LOL. I can't eat any pasta products at all. I don't drink protein drinks and I never have done water. Maybe if I did the weight would come off faster, but I am happy with losing the way I am. I do take vitamins(when I remember) but thats about it. I see some people have stuck faithfully to protein.....water.......vitamins......exercise.......and have lost 69 -70 lbs. Oh well bottom line I couldn't have lost anything without the surgery.

Hi Patty...seems to me your doing just fine with the loss thus far. I too am not drinking all the water, or consuming all the protein I should, but I try, at least for the protein. As for the vitamins, they are so important. Remember your body now does not absorb vitamins and minerals as it once has, so we need to take suppliments to stay healthy. I am faithful with my vitamins. I take a product called Optisource, they are a chewable, and I believe you can get them on line. They have a pleasant orange flavor with no aftertaste. I am not sure how old you are, but that too plays a role in weightloss. I am in my early 50's, and my metabolism is slowed due to hypothyroid disease. I would love to say I lose 20 pounds a month, but it's not going to happen for me, so I got over that disappointment, and moved on from there. I will take any loss I can, for it will add up to big numbers in the end. We are real close with our starting weight. When I had my last MD appointment before surgery I weighed 300 pounds. The day of surgery, one week later, I weighed 292 on my scale. (Even thou scales are different, and mine doesn't match up to the doctors scale I think I lost a few pounds due to fear and anticipation). As of today (I weigh myself daily which is probably not a good thing) I am 230. That is a loss of 70 pounds from the start of my journey. When you think of the weight we all lost in such a short amount of time, it's amazing. Susan

HELLO! Susan, I had my surgery on 08/30/04. I am one of those who has lost a lot of weight - but I get alittle nervous about that - thinking about the story about the tortoise and the hare!!! LOL! (If you know what I mean!) I have had NO complications and really feel sorry for those who have and pray for them. I weighed Tues (01/24/05) and I now weigh 199!!!! Losing 96# since surgery. I worry about not eating healthy, though. It is nice to know I am not the only one. I have a really tough time with eating ANYTHING. I drink protein drinks - 1-3 everyday and take my vitamins. I don't feel like I eat enough - but I stay alittle nauseated most of the time and have not exercised for a couple of months and NEVER get my water in! I was wearing size 26/28's. I NOW actually have a pair of size 12 pants (NOT stretch!) that I can wear - they are a little snug!!! Most of my clothes are 16's. I can't believe it. I haven't worn these sizes since Jr HIGH!!! LOL!! I have only weighed in the 100's one time for about 4.5 seconds 15 yrs ago! I sure feel GREAT though! I have so much more energy that I have had for years (I wished I had WLS YEARS ago when my kids were younger). I enjoy going to the thrift stores and buying the clothes - I don't buy a lot - mostly for work. As ALL of my clothes are WAY TOO BIG!!! I, like you, am FINALLY beginning to feel like a "normal" person - I can NEVER remember feeling that way in my entire life - I have always been THE FAT GIRL! God bless you. Cathy

Wow! I can't believe how time has flown. I don't even want to look back at the 1st 3 months. It was heave heave heave for me But these months have been better. I am still a slow loser, but without the surgery I would be a fast gainer!LOL I went to my Dr. Friday and he said that he was pleased with 50lbs because my starting weight was 218. And my sugar levels are great (no meds) I have lost alot of inches. He said for me to up the protein and exercise. He said to eat meat, not protein drinks. He said meat stays with you longer and is best. I can't handle the protein drinks anyway, even the nectar is awful to me. I am going to get the power butter and try it though. Good luck to all of you August babes!!!

The time really has flown by. I remember thinking those first few weeks, 'if only it were Christmas'. I can't believe it's almost 5 months. I'm down 84 lbs. My surgeon told me last month I was an 'over-achiever'. Is that like a fast loser? My losses have really slowed considerably. I seem to plateau and then drop a chunk. Exercize hasn't been too routine-on average I'd say 4 days a week. Not so good getting in the water. calories are between 800-1100 a day. I keep track w/ fitday. Does anyone else worry that they'll just stop losing? I worry and dream all the time that I gain it back. This me. barb

Hi everyone, I haven't been on OH as much, and soooo great to see that everyone is keeping up with our weekly weighin! I'm doing great, love seeing the scale move further down. As of this week, I am down 70lbs! That's how much a grown child weighs! I was carrying around THAT much...crazy when you think of it that way. Before surgery: 255 Current: 185 Loss thus far: 70!!! I started as a size 22, using XXL or XXXL (to have some breathing room). I know fit into L's and M's, depending on the style. And down to size 16...soon to be 14!! This is awesome, slower than I thought it would take, but definitely worth it. A friend of mine is going through the pretests to get her surgery done and I haven't seen her since I was preop. I'll be hanging out with her this weekend and she'll be seeing my weightloss in person hehe..that should be cool for both her and me. Take care everyone and glad to be back! Norma G.

Hi Everyone! You are all doing so well. I saw my internist on Tuesday and weighed 281 lbs. Down from 356 lbs on the day of surgery 8/30/04. I weighed at the Y today and was down to 278 . I feel great and exercise 5 to 6 days a week, my favorite being water aerobics. My doctor was real happy with the progress and thinks we are right on schedule. I was wearing 4x scrubs and now wear 2x. I feel smaller everday! I just hope everything continues to go well. See you all for the 6 month check the end of February. Pat B. 356/278/180
