Good Morning, Is time going as quickly for you as it is for me? Hard to believe, all that waiting and anticipation is so far behind us. One week from today is offically the end of our 5th month....where did the time go? I have had no complications, and I hope none of you have either. I thought I was a slow looser, yet when I went to the surgeon last week, I am in the upper 60 percentile for weight loss, which means I am above average. To date I lost 69 pounds. I talked with the PA about those who seemed to have lost so much more, but there are so many varibles on how much weight a person loses, each person is individual. The best part is, no matter how quickly or slow we lose the weight, it is gone FOREVER!!! I am still having a hard time getting all my protein and water in, and I don't eat as much as I should, yet I am able to eat everything. I have also learned when to stop eating (before that full, uncomfortable feeling sets in). It is so nice to be able to eat like a normal person. I don't count carbs, but I watch fats and chose low fat choices. My clothes are really getting too big to wear now. I have been told I need a new wardrobe. I think I will visit the thrift store for smaller sizes. I can't see buying new clothes if I am not going to be in them for long. Best to you all, and see less of you next week! Susan 300/231

Time is flying by! I am now down 71 pounds as of this morning. Weight loss for me has really slowed down, under 10 pounds a month. But hey at least I am losing. I have had some complications but still do not regret my decision to have this surgery. I hope the worst is behind me now. I use fitday.com to track all of my food intake. I average about 600 calories per day, 15-20 grams of fat and 50-60 carbs. I have no problems eating at all. I can eat just about anything (I haven't tried sugar yet so I have no idea). I started using the walk away the pounds video tapes and enjoy them. I have been walking 4 miles three times a week. Hope everyone is doing great! Starting Weight: 256 5'0 Current Weight: 185 Goal Weight: 140 (45 pounds to goal) --Marianne

Marianne, hello..... Seems to me my weight loss was always slow. After the initial first 2 months, I was lucky to hit 5-8 pounds for every month after that....but now my attitude is....it's OK, it will all add up BigTime in the end, besides it took years to get on me, I can be patient with this "final" weight loss. Just the thought that I have the power now (with the grace of God) to be able to control it now gives me such peace of mind. I have lost massive amounts of weight before, but it always came back....and I know it still can, but now I have the tool to help me thru the difficult times. Keep up the good work!!! Susan

hi, I was sitting here thinking we were about to start our 5th month, time does go by. I was hoping to have lost more weight by now since I started at 378.. I have lost 86 lbs. I now weigh 292. I guess it just doesnt happen fast enough for me. I hope I loose a whole lot more.. I guess I am scared that it will all stop and I will still be big. I have been working out hard for about a month now at the sports com by my house. I go monday through fri. Some times I get a little dehydrated and have to drink more fluids. Its hard to keep up with everything I have to do. Well I feel like I have been stuck in these same 28's forever. I'll be glad when they are baggin off me.. Sheila

Hi Sheila! You are doing great hun. We have to remember, being older, our hormones play a big role in our weight loss. What is easy for a younger pre menopausal woman is difficult for those of us who are older and post menopausal. Just remember, we will lose the weight, and besides, like I said earlier, losing fast or slow, it all evens out in the end. Keep up the good work!!! Susan

Susan, Surgery was on 08/30/04 and per that day I was 374.4 lbs. I am currently -98 lbs down (removed for 'EVER') and if I count my ups and downs along the way it would be -113 lbs; instead. I am getting in my protein and most of my water on most days (5-7 per week). I fit comfortably now in 20/22 (with room) and 18's depending on the designer. I can wear a size XL in shirts. My shoes went from a size 11.5 to 9.5 and 9 medium depending on designer. Here is a funny story: Saturday, husband was washing some dark clothes and came in the room I was in and said: "WOW, you really are getting smaller (he had a shirt that I wore the day before in his hand). He said I knew you were losing weight but that is really nice..." I smiled and he walked away in a maze... So Funny.....! I feel good that things will continue and I 'Thank GOD' and Dr. E for everything over the last 5 months. God Bless you all, gwen

Gwen, your doing great! I had to chuckle with you hubby story. Next time tell him to look at YOU and not your CLOTHES to see how much you have lost....hmmmmm, do you think you are getting so small he is missing you as you pass by....hehehe I too thank God for leading me to my surgeon for this life altering change. I have no regrets! See less of you next week! Susan

Lisa...WoW, a 100 pound weight loss and you think it could have, would have been more? That sounds like negative thinking girlfriend. Don't disappoint yourself in that way. Any loss of weight is a gain in the right direction! Susan
