Counting Calories?
Is anyone counting calories? My weight loss slowed, so I've reduce my calorie intake. I didn't realize how many calories I was taking in before! I basically avoid fruit altogether. I snack on veggies and my meals consist mainly of protein (shrimp, turkey, etc), so I'm basically low-carb, too. I'm terrified of eating my way back to my old self.
I am not counting calories. On occ. I might but I never was told what about of calories I was supposed to be having. I am focusing on portion control, getting in protein and water. Sounds like you are doing the right thing. I have bouts of slower wt. loss. I had the problem of eating to much sodium and I retain fl. very easy. Now I limit my tomato soup to 1-2 x wk and not almost every day. I understand you being afraid, but you will be fine! If all else fails, call the dietician. They are great. Barb
hello!
I'm not counting calories but I do make sure I'm aware of many are in whatever I eat. Beyond glancing at the nutritional panl on the back of the box, I don't pay a great deal of attention to the calories. I only focus on the proteins. I'm nine days away from my five month anniversary, so I atill can't eat a great deal. Just trying to get the 50grams that are required is pretty hard for me (I occ. fall short of this amount). The high protein foods (i.e. tuna, chicken) tend to be low in calories/fat. It is a good idea to take in mind how many calories are in what you eat, because I consider this to be the training stage of my diet. I'm learning how to eat right now, because once I'm on my own I could still gain in back.
I don't really limit my calories but I do limit my carbs. I use fitday.com to tally up my intake. I average about 1100 calories a day--more or less. Some days a whole lot more--some days a whole lot less.
I count protein, fluid, and supplements. As long as I get my basic requirements, then I eat veggies and fruits.
I've gotta get in:
at least 80 g protein - usually do 100
at least 64 oz water - usually do 80
My nutritionist and surgeon say they usually see the weight loss slowing to about 5 lb a month which is right about where I am now. Hopefully in 6 more months I'll end up about 150 lb.
Good luck.
