I was 218 the day of surgery and diabetic. Since 8/31/04 I have lost 50lbs. I would like to lose 50 more, am I being unrealistic? I would love any advice. How much will I lose? How long will I lose? How much will I gain back? How much is realistic? I get kinda down when I see all the higher weight losses, but my Dr. said that lower starting weights lose slower. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks Lisa

hey lisa I love your name Well if 50 more lbs is your surgeons goal I think its very realistic... I'm not saying easy though..... you should lose fast during the first months butthen it tends to slow down but you will continue to lose... As long as you work your tool right there should not be much of a gaining of weight problem...Good luck and I hope this helps.. Lisa

Everyone looses at a different rate. I am finding that even though I am a "light weight" at 248 I have lost rather quickly...dropping 92 lbs in just 5 and half months. I know people who started out more than me that have not lost that much. As for your goal, it really depends on your height and frame size. If you are short with a small frame, 118 should be ok. Try to not compare how well you are doing to other people...everyone looses at a different rate...remember that. When was the last time you lost 50lbs in just 4 months? You are doing just fabulous and I would not be worried. One thing also to keep in mind is that eventually the weight loss does slow down...espeically the closer you are to goal. Keep up the good work...you'll get to goal! Kristy 248/156/140

It depends on your height and your bone structure. If the Dr. is telling you 100 lbs. total, their goal is usually more than what the charts tell you, so you will need to decide when you get to that point if you are comfortable, or if you need to weigh more or less. If 118 is a good weight for you, then go for it, if you think that is unrealistic, than set your own realistic goal for yourself, and when you get there you can readjust. Good Luck! JUDY 359/275/167? (my personal goal is 42 lbs. less then the Dr's goal for me, and it is 22 lbs. more than what the charts say I should weigh)
