Protein choices!!
Hi All! I am eating but having a hard time getting in my protein. I have tried protein bars, powders, variety of foods and still unable to get in enough. I am now loosing hair slowly but loosing it. Anyone have any ideas? Sample of meals today:
B; 12 oz. juicy juice, 16 oz. 1% milk
Snack; Propel water, 1/4 c. chilli( pureed)
L; 1/2 clementine, 12 oz. crystal light tea, 1 oz. turkey breast
Snack; 1-trim creation fudge bar
S; 1/2 boiled potato, 1 oz. turkey, 12 oz. juicy juice
Snack; 1 oz. low fat cottage cheese.
It seems I ate all day. Odd!!! Anyone got any good advice for me?
Barb, I am in the same boat with the hair loss. I bought some shampoo from Cost Cutters with Biotin in it and that seems to be helping. It is supposed to strengthen the foliclies you have as well as new ones coming in.
I hate to say it but you might want to have a protien drink or two during the day for a few weeks. I am back on that train for now, because of my workout routine.
Don't worry.

Can you only eat 1 oz at a time without getting sick or feeling too full? I eat 4 oz of cottage cheese for a meal...which is 14 g of protien! I can eat 3 oz of turkey, and I don't drink juice at all. I drink milk or nectar protein drink!
I would try eating more...it seems you are barely eating. This is just my opinion though! Ask the doc!
I try to get at least one protein supplement (shake or bar a day), that does help with the protein grams.
Today I have had:
Breakfast: (6:30am) Chocolate Delight Atkins Advantage Shake (20 g. protein)
Snack: (8:30 am) Atkins Advantage Berry Granola Bar (17 g. protein)
Snack: (10:30am) 2 small slim jims (6 g. protein)
Lunch: (12:30) 1 pint Hot and Sour Soup, 1 small slice thin crust pizza (I know it sounds like a lot) - no clue how much protein
Snack: (3:15) Atkins Advantage Peanut butter Granola Bar (17 g. protein)
Dinner: (don't know what time yet) 3 oz. meatloaf, broccoli, and 2-3 tbsp. of baked potato (appx. 10-12 grams of protein)
Snack (before bed): Atkins Advantage Shake (20 g. protein)
Total Protein: 95g +
I too am having trouble with hairloss, but it is very normal. After anesthisa (sp.) anyone would have hair loss. It takes a while for the hair follicle to release, plus the lack of protein if you aren't getting enough can add to it, as well as the lower fat intake. I try to get in natural fats each day, something like avocodo, or adding olive oil to my foods. Plus, I use 1% milk and low fat cottage cheese and cheeses, rather than fat free.
Barbara, someone on the main messageboard recommended the Post Carbwell peanutbutter bar and I LOVE it. It's ten grams of protein abd goes down easily for me. I normally hate those protein bars and drinks but I absolutely like it.

I am going to get some of the power peanut butter at GNC that everyone is talking about. It is packed with protein. But my Dr. says eat meat, meat, meat, He also says no juice or milk, he says not to drink any liquid calories. He says protein drinks go through too fast. He said you will get more out of meat cause it stays with you alot longer. But every Dr. is different.
