I AM SOOO DISAPPOINTED WITH MY LOSS?

Today I have been going through this weeks and last weeks posts to see how the progress is going for all my WLS pals. I am Green with envy. I have stalled out at 60 lb loss for the last 4 weeks. I wasn't worried at first but now am feeling like such a failure. Every one else with the same or close surgery dates have posted losses of 70, 80, or even 90 lbs. I hope nothing is wrong with me, or I haven't damaged my pouch. Any words of encouragement would surely be appreciated

Don't be disappointed Yolanda. Everyone loses at a different pace. I had my surgery 8/2 and am at 66lbs lost. Remember a loss is a loss and it is a loss forever. Be proud of what you are doing and stay positive. Try writing down what you eat for a week. Everything no matter how small and count the calories and carbs and see if you can see a pattern. When I don't lose I have to do the same thing and get back on the bandwagon. Keep up the great work. Cherie

Thanks Cherie, I will heed your advice. I also can think of a few carb filled foods that I should probably eliminate as well as upping my protien. I noticed Dr. Cindy was your surgeon. Mine was her dear ole dad, Dr. Tom Geocaris. Thanks for the help, it is so greatly appreciated...

my support group swears that when you are stalled in weight loss, you can get things going again by changing something that you are doing, like adding an extra bottle of water, changing the form of exercise that you do, just changing something will jump start the weight loss again, I have tried that and it seems to work, good luck and don't stress!! Don't fret...you and I are in about the same boat. My surgery was 8/31 and I've been in stall mode the last month too. Even up 2 lbs, then down 2 lbs etc..keep seeming to bounce around the same 5 lbs. I'm at a 65lb loss. I started at 240 and am at 175 (I'm 5'6") my 'bouncing" is I keep moving between 174-180 Cori

I did that in mid-december thru the first week in january, I feel your pain. I did up/change my exercize routine and started keeping better track at fitday.com and the weightloss has picked up again. I was worried too, thinking I must have done something to wreck my pouch or that I'd never lose again. Hang in there sweetie, it'll kick in again. ~barb

((((hugs)))) Awww... I totally understand. I feel so disapointed in myself at the moment. I feel that I should be down 100 pounds right now. I'm changing the way I eat. No more "junk". I'm drinking way more water now and I'm walking around more at work. I can't go to the gym, so I walk at least 6 miles 3-4 times a week at work. (yes, LOTS of walking). I saw my therepist today and vented about how dissapointed I feel with the fact that I'm not down to the point I want myself to be, to the point that so many other stronger willed people are at. My therepist said "Well... in 5 months would you have been able to lose 80 pounds with out the surgery?" that actually got me thinking. I guess she's right. I should be happy that I've lost this large amount of weight in such a short amount of time. Don't worry about it. You'll start loseing more weight again. Don't give up hope, don't ever give up hope. Take care, ~AC

Don't be upset Yolanda. Whenever I have a plateau, I simply look over what I'm doing on a daily basis and tweak it a little. I add an extra bottle of liquid, make sure I start my day with a protein drink of some kind, and be faithful about getting in all the food I should eat. You will look back on this in a couple of weeks and laugh. I promise!
