Hey there
I had my surgery 8/9/04 and I am very pleased with my weight loss. I am stuck now, but I know it will start up again.
How is everyone feeling? I've noticed, I am having trouble eating foods I have been eating. But then the next week, I can eat them again hehehe anyone else like that?
QUESTION??? When can we start drinking Alcohol? Anyone know? A lady at my work was told she can never drink again. And another lady at my work was told after a year. But I remember in my class I was told we would be able too drink but cant remember when we are allowed. I love to do Karaoke but can't do it without liquid courage....
Let me know please
I was told after 6 months and only in VERY STRICT MODERATION! Alcohol has alot of calories in it and it doesn't fill you up. Plus, since you don't have all the digestive juices in your pouch, the alcohol will hit your liver in a concentrated form. So please be careful!
I'd ask your surgeon what he reccommends...

Ahhh....Karaoke! My husband got me a nice machine and several mics for my Christmas present, and I just love it! I don't need any liquid encouragement to be an idiot! Ha! Ha! I just sing and feel the same crazy way I have since I was a little girl singing into my hairbrush in front of my mirror! Nothing much has changed!
As far as alcohol is concerned, my surgeon warned me about this too. He said to go back when I felt ready, but limit myself to a fraction of the alcohol that I was used to.
On my 18th wedding anniversary, December 27, my husband and I were stuck waiting for a table for over an hour, and we went to the bar and I ordered a glass of red wine. I should have stopped with that first glass, but I ordered another just before being seated, and I wasn't able to eat my meal.
I felt the effects of the alcohol much more than ever before---quicker too.
I had another couple of glasses on New Year's Eve, but I drank it slower, and did a little better. Of course all that Karaoke singing helped me get up and move around and I was fine.
But, I would say in everything, MODERATION. Just try a glass of something----maybe holding off on the hard liquor for a while longer. But a beer or a glass of wine (not a sugary wine cooler) would probably be just fine.
If you start to feel sick, just stop drinking and go right back to water.
But if you like Karaoke as much as I do.....you don't need any liquid encouragement!
