Weight stall, how to get it moving again?
Remind me how to get the loss going again......
I want to preface this post with, I am not complaining, I just want the scale to move again!
I have been passing around the same dang 4 lbs since before Christmas. Today I am 224...and it goes down to 222 and to 226 every other week. My last loss was on Dec. 15, which I lost about 12 lbs in a 7 day span from Dec. 7-15. I haven't lost since then, except for the 4 lbs bouncing back and forth.
I try to make sure I stay under 600 calories, at least 65 g of protein....and lots of water. My carbs are always under 40....around 25-30 some days more, some days less.
I am also excersizing as much as I can. It isn't as much as I see myself eventually doing, but it is about 3 times a week.
I lose weird....I used to lose just 2 weeks out of a month, with losses of 5-6 each week. So my total is 10-12 a month. Now, I lose 10 days a month, all in a row....like 7-10 lbs! The problem is, it can be very frusterating waiting for those days to lose! LOL!
I really wanted to be down to 215 by Feb 1st. I am off track right now and I thought it would be great to get 10 more down and have people really notice again. That would make an 80 lb loss for me. Then, I wanted to hit like 210 by my 6 month anniversary.....
WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE THE LOSS START AGAIN???
Thanks!
Kimberly
First off, let me say this....increase your calories. You should be getting at least 1000 calories a day, your body is getting used to it. Also, increase your water...if you are drinking 64 oz. drink 72 oz. Increase your water by one glass a day, it will help. Also, increase your protein. When my protein dropped below 78 grams a day, my weight started to slow down. The last 3 days, I have increased my water, increased my protein, and I am down 6 lbs. Are you retaining water? That is part of my problem as well, and I'm taking Maxide, a water pill prescribed by my Dr.
Go back to full liquids for a day or two, everytime I do that, I drop my weight down again. If I get in 120 grams of protein plus 96 oz. of water, and along with soups, juices, crystal light, and do that for a couple of days I see a significant drop. I finally decided to do that again this week, and it has made a HUGE difference!
Good Luck!
JUDY
Kim,
My weight loss has stalled, too. I'm sure we are normal, but I have to keep reminding myself of that! I agree, I think upping your calories a bit and increasing water and protein are good ideas. I've also heard that eating a small baked potato for lunch will help get your weight loss moving again. I'm thinking of trying it, myself.

Hi Kimberly
I'll second what Judy said all the way. Especially trying to get in at least 1000 calories, that is what my surgeon and nutritionist want me to shoot for anyway. I think that would make a big difference for you as well as trying for one more glass of fluid a day.
My stall ended for me this Monday, and I really think I was retaining water more than anything. I was bumping around the same 5 pounds for about a month, so I KNOW how frustrating that can be, believe me. Just keep plugging - the weight will come off, don't worry!

Hi Kimberly,
I have noticed that my weightloss pattern is this: Stay the same for a week or so, than a nice loss. It always evens out over the course of a month, so even if I don't lose for a week or two, the next week will make up for it and I will still have a nice loss for the month.
I used to only weigh in at the surgeons office or the dietician. I did this for I think three months. Then the moron that I am, decided to buy a home scale and I am on it several times per day.
Had I not bought the scale, I would have no clue what I weighed week to week. I would have just had the monthly weigh in figures and I wouldn't even know that I stalled for a week here and there. Oh, well!
I also noticed that when I eat more red meat, I tend to lose more. I have no idea why?
You are doing great. I think we may have similiar weight loss patterns, so don't despair.
Hugs,
Denise
Ditto MT, I'm right there with ya. This month has been horrendous. I'm getting depressed here. Part of it was my fault at Christmas w/ grazing, but I've been real good w/ vitamins, protein and water since. I've been at a standstill for almost a month. I wanted to be in ONEderland by Jan. 1, but it didn't happen. I've upped my exercize.......maybe tha'll help. best~barb
