Poll:Plateau
Has anyone been on a plateau yet? How long did it last? Are you still on one?
I have been on a plateau for about 3 weeks now. My scale is stuck on 191 AHHHHHH! I am going insane. I cannot stop thinking about it. I must say I am very happy with the loss so far but I am afraid I am done losing.

Yup sweetie, I've been there and just STOPPED being there this week. I was bumping between 175-180 for a month, until Monday when I weighed in at 173. It's not a HUGE loss or anything, but I was so thrilled to see a different number on the scale, I cried!
We're not finished yet, but I KNOW it's hard not to think so when we aren't losing. You've done great so far and will continue to do so - don't worry!! (yeah, I know, easier said than done, huh?!) Take care!

Marianne,
I'm right there with you. I haven't lost anything in about 3 weeks either. I went up 8, down 4, and now I'm up 4 from my lowest weight. I was at 81 lbs, I am now 76 lbs. down since surgery. I'm hoping this starts to change soon. I'm just as frustrated. I'm not happy with my loss so far, I feel like I should be farther along by now. I was really hoping for 100 lbs. by my 6 month mark (2/16), but I find that hard to believe at this point!
I guess I just need to be a little more patient!

What's up with this 3-week plateau? I am on week 3 of one also! Actually, I have lost about 7 pounds since Thanksgiving, but I think they were all lost in the first week of December!
The weight seems to be creeping down a bit now....but the weight is not significant. I'm concerned with losing inches, and they are coming off just fine.
In fact, my husband and I were laughing the other day about my bowed legs. I have been heavy for so long, that I forgot that my legs bowed out below the knees! Now that my legs are slimmer, it is more noticeable. I am also noticing a lot more thing about my body that I had forgotten since high school. It's nice to know that underneath all that fat, my old self remains.
Just a little older....

I stall out for at least two weeks out of every four, so I've gotten used to it. I've had months in which I only lose weight during a single week and the rest just stay the same or I lose a single pound. A very annoying pattern! Also, each month I've lost 1-3 lbs less than I lost the month before. I know that's to be expected, but I want to keep losing at least 10 lbs per month for as long as possible (I'm getting down to about that level lately--might just be the holidays, though). Looks like I'm going to have to fight a bit harder each month to do it.
These aren't true plateaus yet. They're just periods of adjustment or hormonal changes or something like that. You have to stall out for a lot longer for it to qualify as a plateau. From what I understand, they're excruciating and depressing to endure, and we'll probably start hitting them late in our first year--maybe May or so.
Chin up, Marianne. Sounds like most of us are right there with you. We're not done losing yet; we just have to work a little harder now.

Hi Marianne,
I haven't been on an official plateau as of yet, but my weight loss patterns kind of look like plateaus.
For example, I have noticed that I will stay the same for a week or two, than BAM....a nice loss. This has been my observation since I bought my home scale a month ago.
Before that, I was only weighing in when I went to see my surgeon or dietician, about one time monthly. So I have no idea if I plateaued at all during that time because I didn't weigh in between; I waited until my appointments.
But silly me had to go buy a scale and now I weigh myself every time I go to the bathroom! How is that for obsessed?? LOL
But to answer your question, I don't think I am plateauing, I just think this is the way I lose. Nothing for a week then a big loss. As long as I reach goal and continue to lose, I am a happer camper. When I do hit a plateau, I will be in panic mode and will be coming here for support, that is for sure!
Hugs,
Denise
