Hey all! I'm exactly 5 months today and am doing good! I started at 248 and am down to 159 as of this morning...that makes a loss of 89lbs!!! I started in a size 24/26 and am down to a 10/12. I haven't had a plateau that has lasted more than a week and half. I can eat just about anything except for fruit and sweets...I am very sensitive to sugar!! I'm bad about the gym...but that's my New Years Resolution. As for my water and vitamins...I get in all my vitamins but not always all of my water. I'm fighting off a cold right now...so my appitite hasn't exactly been great...but I'm hoping to start feeling better. Kristy 248/159/140

Okay, I have a love/hate relationship with these August check-in posts. I love the sense of kinship I get with people who had surgery at the same time I did. But I have always had a weakness in comparing my progress to others'. At this point, I don't feel too off-track with actual pounds I've lost (-78), though most people seem to have lost more. Now I'm freaking out over sizes. Why is everyone in so much smaller sizes than me? I've been looking at check-in posts from people who had surgery after we did, and it's not just folks who started out weighing less than I did--I've seen people who NOW weigh about what I started at (about 280) who are in the same or smaller sizes than what I'm wearing now at 204 (sz. 18-20-22). Are people that much taller than I am (I'm 5'3")? Am I just wearing my clothes looser? Is my body build just really strange? I wear a 22W jean comfortably, a 20W swimsuit that is starting to get a little loose, tight 2X workout clothes, and some 3X and 26/28 clothes that are comfortably loose. I also have some 3X and 26/28 clothes that are so big they fall off me. I know sizes run different, but I know I'm not even close to wearing 10s, 12s, 14s, and 16s like so many of our August buddies! Sorry to freak out, but I don't get it. Anyway, here are my current stats: Height: 5'3" Starting weight: 282 Current weight: 204 Loss so far: -78 Beginning clothes sizes: 26/28 & 3X (tight) Current clothes sizes: 22W jeans (comfy) and 2X (tight) Currently doing well with: water, vitamins, exercise Currently feeling challenged by: snacking/grazing, too many carbs & not enough protein, sipping while eating ---- Leslie 282/204/135

I just re-read my own post and I sure do sound super-whiney! Sorry about that. I just have a bad tendency to compare myself to others and I always end up feeling like I fall short (no pun intended), even when I'm doing just fine. I've been pretty good about controlling this tendency for the past couple of months or so, but I have definite moments of weakness when I let it get to me. I do know that every single person is not wearing smaller sizes than I am. I also know that there are differences in height, body type, cut/style, etc. that account for differences in clothing sizes. I am happy with my weight loss so far--I'm over halfway to goal and I'm very pleased with that. I've already made it much further than I ever did with dieting. Congratulations to all the August babies! You're doing a fabulous job. Here's to a year of reaching our goals and loving life. ---- Leslie 282/204/135

Hey Debra, My weight loss has been about as unpredictable as the weather. I'm down 98lbs as of today, and have gone from a 30/32 (tight)to a 22/24(comfortable). I'm 5'7, so my weight was stretched out I guess you could say. I have not began any type of exercise yet, but I did join the ymca this week, so like you said...back to vitamins, water and eating right. Continued success! Stephanie

Hi, everyone and first off congrats to all the august babies ! I started at 347lb and now am 237lb which is a total so far of 110lb loss. I have recently lost alot of sizes Then month of December was good for me inch wise but it was about time. Here are my statistics: start size top 30/32 pant 26/28 December top 24 pant 22/24 now top 18/20 pant 16/18 I cannot even explain how great I feel. I have not worn this size for 15 years. What is really weird is at this weight before I wore a 22/24 so I am really happy. I do walk everyday 2 -3miles no gym yet that start next month. My doc said no till 6 month out. Except for the walking and Ihave been using small weights. Well eveyone take care and keep up the good work. love and hugs Brenda
