New to the August board
Hi everyone!
I don't know why I haven't been here before but I usually stay on the main board. I actually didn't even know about this board until just recently.
I have been reading some of you messages and profiles and it looks like everyone had a good holiday but now it's time to get serious again. I too, splurged a little. I didn't eat any sugar but just grazed some and I knew I shouldn't be. No gain, but I haven't lost anything in the last 2 weeks.
I had my surgery Aug. 19 and I am down 65 lbs. I don't feel like I'm losing very fast. I know shouldn't compare ourselves to others, but I was just wondering how everyone else is doing. It seems like I have really slowed down since about the first of Nov.

Hi there,
I had such a rough month in November. It seems I barely lost a thing! I did lose 6 lbs or so, but it was so slow. Then in December, I went back to eating at least 60 g of protein a day! I cut the carbs and focused on low cal/high protien choses. I lost 15 lbs in December! I started at 237 and today was 222~! Amazing!
What I find is that when my body wants to lose, it loses, no matter what i eat or how much protein I take in....it is very odd!

If you don't mind, I just have to ask-how are you getting in that much protein? Are you using supplements? No matter what I try and do, I can't seem to up my protein to an adequate amount. I feel like I live on poultry, beans and cheese. Any suggestions that you have would be greatly appreciated! My weight loss is slow but steady, I just have concerns about protein (My hair is now falling out by the handful!)

I would love to share. I bought the Roadside Lemonade Nectar Shake. Now, let me tell you, mixed with water, this stuff is nasty!!! Buy the Tropicana LIGHT Lemonade. Mix in a scoop with that. It taste just like Lemonade!
That gives me 23 grams. I usually drink only one...but some days I am not hungry and still need the protein. I do two on those days!
I then add about 3 ounces of chicken which is 20 protein. For the rest, I eat cheese, more protein, etc. Like I said, if I don't hit at least 50, I make another shake!

Actually I was also feeling like I wasn't loosing very fast but you and I are about on the same page! I was banded in 31/8/04 and am down 62 pounds so we're just about the same! My problem is, I know when I diet I loose weight. Last month I only stuck to the diet for two week and lost 16 pounds! This month I didn't diet at all and stayed the same! I think it's natural to compare yourself to others, I do. It just is human nature. I just hope I have the will power this month, and loose another 16!
