loosing too quickly???
I just wanted to post quick that this surgery has been amazing! I can eat anything except sweets...I do have a sugar intolerance. Meats are no problem...neither are some carbs (like potatoes and low carb tortillas)...neither are veggies. I'm still afraid of fruit since I dumped on that small piece of cantaloupe. But other than that...I'm already 24 lbs away from goal! I started out at 248 and am now down to 164...that's 84lbs in only 4 months 1.5 weeks!!!! Is this normal? Am I loosing too quickly? Or am I just being paranoid?

I think only your Dr. can answer that question. I think it seems a little quick with where you started. I'm at 4 mos. and down 77 lbs., and I started out over 100 lbs. more than you. If you are concerned call your Dr. If you are feeling ok, I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

Kristy,
Everyone looses at a different rate. I've lost 83lbs in 4 months and 2 weeks, and I feel like my weight loss has come to a stop because I've only lost 3lbs this month.
Every body reacts differently. So everyone is going to have different results.
Also it has alot to do with how well you follow your surgeon's and dietician's rules. Are you one of those hitting the gym everyday? Are you one of those who never misses a gram of protein? If you are super strict with your rules, you will have better results!
Me personally, I am a slacker! I work out when I can, (not often enough), I dont get any protein supplements, and I haven't found many foods that bother me.
Bread and tomatoes are the only things I can think of.
I eat some fatty foods, and they dont bother me. I just notice if I dont eat any fat, I dont make it to the toilet for days.
I haven't eaten sugar, so I dont know if I have an issue with that or not. I've been scared to death with the whole dumping thing so even the thought of sugar now makes me gag!
Everyone is different!
But if you have concerns, address them with your surgeon. If he thinks there may be a problem with your absorption he will check it out.

Hey Kristy,
You seem to be loosing quickly, which is why I've totally bugged you for THE SECRET!!!! lol...Hey, like they say, everyone's body is different. Your surgery, change in bad eating habits, etc may have just jump started your metabolism faster than most. I am a slow loser, I had surgery on 8/30 (3weeks after you) and down 55lbs (HIGHLY doubt I'll lose 20lbs in the next 3wks since my usual weight loss is about 2lbs a week). I've had problems with my thyroid and metabolism is extremely low, so as long as I'm losing and scale going the RIGHT direction, I'm happy and hoping to get my thyroid treated to kick start my own metabolism. Definitely talk to your doc about it, if it's a concern, but as long as your blood levels are good/normal, then its just your metabolism ready to kick some ass!
You look great girl - I briefly met you when you were 2 wks out at DanniC's get-together from the caliboard and you are doing awesome...again WHAT'S THE SECRET! lol...
happy holidays,
