Immediate Suregery Is Required!

Went to the surgeon today.... After tests, etc, it is determined that its my gallbladder and t has to go ASAP. He wanted me to go in on Monday, but after the shock of it, I told him no I needed a week. Surgery is slated for 12/13...still waiting on the time. I am on pain meds and Antibiotics, with strict orders to call or go to Emergency ASAP if the pain does not stop... I also found out I have a hernia that requires repair, but he will not combine them. He said you need mesh, and that may cause infections, etc...so he wants to wait on that as well. So that is surgery # 3... I am bummed, but hopefully this will help... Anyway that is my update... Hi Denise, First I am sorry about all the pain you are in, But what a relief to find out it is only your gallbladder! I guess that is pretty common after a dramatic weight loss, and it seems that recovery is pretty quick. Good luck to you and give us updates. Sandy

Hey Sandy, Thanks for the feedback. I wishe they had taken it out when they did the bypass. I had so many complications with the bypass that I have fear of them happening with this. If I can get past the fear I will be just fine. Thanks for the well wishes! Denise

I know the pain of the gallbladder...be careful...you really should not wait. I also know the head aches of surgeries......I had my gallbladder out in 96, a total hysterectomy in 2002,a cystectomy(cyst on spine)in 2003, this year..WLS. Now on December 27th I go to have the surgeon repair my cystectomyand grab any more cysts that might be there. I am burnt out from surgeries. Hang in there...you will get through it. I am doing fine with out my gallbladder. I had laproscopic...qiuck repair time. Best to you, Mary RNY Aug 4th 2004
