Do you still crush your calcium pills (if you take the big honkin ones) or do you take them whole now? Cindy

I took Caltrate D (chewables) right after surgery---one in the morning and one at night. Now, I chew a Viactive morning and night. They taste like candy! What a treat! Your body can only absorb so much at a time. You'll have to space your calcium around the day to get the full effect. Both the Caltrate D chewables and the Viactive chewables are pretty tasty. Next time you talk with your physician, ask them about it. ~Laura

Those chewables are calcium carbonate. I prefer taking calcium citrate because it is absorbed better. I do keep a box of viactiv around in a pinch, however. The other day I tried to swallow one of my calcium pills whole and it damn near got stuck. I cut it in half and it wasn't much better. Guess I'll keep crushing them. Cindy

I take mine whole; target brand...huge ol' things! I did viactiv for awhile, but got tired of the taste...don't get me wrong, they're yummy, I'm just not much of a candy/sweets person so it just took too long to break down and dissolve in my mouth I'm thinking about doing a bariatric calcium pill because I'm scared of there being left over calcium pills that don't get broken down...I'm currently doing Vitamist (got some samples at an OH convention) and may look into spray calcium vitamins. Big emphasis on MAY....lol...For now, the big ol' pills will do.

Cindy I take Twinlab Chewable Calcium Citrate 4 wafers a day. They taste like sweetarts to me. And I don't have a problem with them. Jackie 263/247/135?
