Protien has not been a problem for me. 3 months post op, lost 83# and gained 15# of muscle. I have found it is easier to eat chicken, pork, beef, or shrimp in a stir fry with some kind of sauce or gravy and over rice. The leftovers can be divided up in small containers for many meals. Don't forget fish. With the small amout of food that we can eat, we dont have to worry so much about fat, so a small piece of pan fried fish is a great meal. Dinty Moore makes meals in a small container, it is not refrigerated or frozen. I cant finish one of them, but I can finish the meat and they are 19-22 grams of protien each. Real easy meal, 1 1/2 minuted in mic. For breakfast try a low carb cerial with lactose free milk. a 1/2 cup serving with milk is 12 grams of protien. I have not tried the soy milk, but I have been using Kemps 2% lactose free milk, can't tell the difference in taste, and it is great not to have the queezy stomach. Carb Solutions energy bars. 24 grams of protien per bar, I eat half of 1 for my morning snack and the other half in the afternoon. Good luck, I am getting 80 grams a day

HI TRACY, I TOO WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS YOU. I FINALLY FOUND THAT IF I SNACK ON CHEESE AND BEEF JERKY THAT I CAN GET THE PROTIEN IN. WALMART CARRIES THIS BRAND OF CHEDDAR CHEESE ALREADY PACKAGED IN SINGLE SERVING SIZES, 1 ONCE SERVING IS 7 GRAMS OF PROTIEN, THEY ALSO HAVE MOTZORELLA WHICH IS 8 GRAMS OF PROTIEN THE BRAND IS CALLED PRECIOUS, AND THEY COME IN PACKAGES OF 16 STICKS FOR 3.50. ALSO BEEF JERKEY HAS 15 GRAMS OF PROTIEN FOR ONE ONCE. SO ALL DAY I TRY TO GET IN AT LEAST 3 CHEESE AND 2 ONCE OF JERKY WITH THAT I AM GETTING 51 TO 55 GRAMS OF PROTEIN. THIS IS MOSTLY WHAT I EAT, EXCEPT FOR A LITTLE BIT OF DINNER, SO I AM NOT GETTING THAT MANY CALORIES STILL, BUT AT LEAST THIS IS HELPING WITH THE PROTEIN, I AM 11 WEEKS POST OP AND DOWN 62 POUNDS. CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR LOSE. HOW THIS HELPS

heres what i do. i also hate the protein drinks, they smell and taste awful. so i get the carb countdown skim milk and mix it with a carb countdown strawberry yogurt and get 24 g of protein from that. you can add fruit or whatever you want to it. kroger also has their own version of the carb countdown yogurt called carb master, and has the same nutritional values too....they are on sale this week for fifty cents. other than that, i eat tuna salad or egg salad, and i like the carbwise smores protein bar which is 20 g of protein, or the q smart bar which is 10g. i always eat protein first, veggies next. i hope this helps you. Let's see what I can come up with! Low fat, sugar free peanut butter on a celery stick is awsome. I use Simply Jiff and have never dumped on it like others. Very crunch, fresh - just chew real well. Sugar free jello pudding, with a dollop of low fat ricotta cheese stirred in. Doubles the protein. Lime or orange jello with cottage cheese and no sugar added pinapple chunks, chilled. Great lunch! Jello has protein and the cheese makes it perfect. Tuna salad, of course. No sugar added hot chocolate mix made with carb countdown chocolate milk. Double choco-licious! Soy nuts, sunflower seeds and cashews are all good for you, easy to digest and low in fat, high in protein. Turkey jerkey. I get mine at Wallie World. It's easier to chew than beef jerkey and the flavor is great. I keep it in the car all the time! Guess that's all for now. You aren't alone. My pouch doesn't wake up until 11:00 a.m., so before that it all liquids for me. Doesn't leave much time to get the protein in!

HI Tracy, I'm having quite a bit of hair loss and also need to boost my protein. Did you try the unflavored protein powders? I don't like the protein shakes or smoothies either, but the unflavored kind is really tasteless. I put a scoop in Carnation Instant Breakfast, the low carb one....and get the protein from that AND 24 from the protein powder. It doesn't make it thicker or anything, so I can handle it just fine. Might be worth a try! :0) Mary Ann

Hi Tracy, I had the surgery in March and I've had to worry about protein too. I like snacking on almonds, they are low in fat and high in protein. I also like peanut butter on apples, and eatting cheese, and I've been eatting protein bars. Remember you have to eat or your body will shut down and start holding on to all the fat thinking it is starving. Good Luck Sandy
