Iron Problems

Hi HELP!!! my teeth are turning black!!! i'm laurie, i had a lap RNY on 8/18/2004 and am down 53 pounds... i was wondering if anyone else out there was having a problem with the liquid iron discoloring thier teeth... does the chewable iron do the same thing? any suggestions on what to do OR how to get these stains off? let me know! Laurie

My doc has me mix the liquid iron in some orange juice. It keeps from staining my teeth and calcuim helps absorb the iron better. Stephanie

Hi Laurie, I actually changed from liquid iron to two Iron tablets daily and they work great. They are 65mg absorbable iron tablets that I got at Walgreens and I haven't had any problems with my iron. Granted...if you read my profile, I've been on my period for 6 weeks and that might have some effect on my iron levels, but my OB/GYN wasn't too concerned about my iron levels. I hope this helps!
