My Update - Lap RNY 8/25/04
I haven't visited the board in several weeks. It's great to see all the progress everyone is making. Thought I would add mine. As of tonight (11 weeks post op) I have lost 51 lbs. I have more energy than I have had in YEARS. Have went completely crazy with flower beds buying over 500 plants. I work in my flower beds 3+ hours a day. Before surgery I couldn't even bend over! I also ride my recumbent exercise bike for 30 minutes each night. I've lost about 4 inches in my bust, 5 in waist and 3 in hips (all my weight is in my "middle"). This time last year I was taking 3 diabetic medicines and 4 insulin shots a day - and still my FBS was running around 200. Today my FBS was 105. I haven't had ANY diabetic meds or insulin since the day before surgery. This surgery was the VERY BEST thing I have ever done for myself. I am THRILLED with the results. I usually eat 2 Weigh****chers "Smart Ones" (chicken) dinners a day (around 200 calories and 20 g protein each) and deli turkey slices with cheeese. My "treat" is Hunts Sugar Free chocolate pudding. I also eat Quaker low carb bars - chocolate chip peanut butter. Yum! I have had a few days when I have over ate. I still have the "head hunger" pains sometimes. But all in all, this surgery is the greatest thing that has happened for me. WHY didn't I do it sooner??? I hope God blesses you all as much as he has blessed me! Jeanette (330, 155, 289, -51)
PS Am having trouble getting in 64 oz of water a day. Any suggestions?
