Hi everyone, If any one of you is anything like me, protein shakes lack taste and are difficult to get down .....until now. After struggling with different ways to mix them, I finally hit on something I truly enjoy. This is what I do.....I take 4 ounces of orange juice, and add 4 ounces of water to a shaker bottle. I then add 2 scoops of vanilla protein powder, ice cubes and shake, shake, shake. (even get exercise with all the shaking going on) I find this a very refreshing drink. If anyone has any other ideas on how to enjoy a protein shake, please share it with the rest of us. ...no secretes here. Susan

Have not tried OJ. What about the amount of sugar? I thought it was high in the sugar grams. It sounds good....MMmmm Just do not want to dump!

Marla, Just wanted to drop a line and let you know that I have been drinking juice since 2 days after surgery. The doctor said Juice is fine as long as you mix it half and half with water. most of the time I mix more then half, i usually use 3 oz of juice and 5 oz of water. there is a difference between the natural sugar from the fruit. I have not dumped from it . Just though i would let you know... take care, Janel

Janel, I tried the OJ and water with protein last night. No problems! Was very good. I put it in a blender with ice cubes to make it thick. Was a little weak, so next time will just use icecubes or perhaps less water.

Janel is right. Natural sugar is different from added sugar. If a juice is 100% juice, you should be able to drink it. Just check the ingredients for sugar, corn syrups, and stuff. I have been drinking apple juice since 3 days after surgery and OJ since 2 weeks out. White House is the best apple and Tropicana is the best OJ, I think. Hope this helps! *~Amber~*

heres what i do i take one carb countdown strawberry banana yogurt (12 grams protein) and mix it with 8 oz of carb countdown milk ( 12 grams protein) for a total of 24 grams of protein. it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay yummier than them nasty stinky protein shakes and has the same , if not more, than most protein shakes. cheaper too. I hate just about all protein supplements! I have found the only thing that doesn't make me want to gag is for me to take 3 cups of decaf coffee and mix in 2 scoops of the met-rx chocolate supplemental protein and then add 2 splenda packets. I love this, it's like a mocha coffee. It totally doesn't taste like a protein shake to me. And it has 46 grams of protein (I'm yet to finish a whole big mug). Just wanted to share.
