Hello all, just wondering how everyone is doing 12 weeks out... I am stuck at my -40 lbs, but I am very happy with that right now... I have gone from a tight 18/20 to a great fitting 14... and they are getting loose now... I go see my doctor on 11/1/04 to be released so I can join curves and start working out. I am walking just need to start tightening up everything. My problem is still I don't get enough water in... I do get all my protein in with no problem... I don't do any shakes but I eat a lot of turkey meat, chicken and vegetables... I have only dumped twice... once with milk and the other time a bite of choclate cheesecake... I know I am bad for that but just had to have a bite... Hope everyone is doing great... Debra

Hi Debra! Congrats on the 40lbs! I know what you mean. I am stuck right now too. I am down 50, but have been for a week now. No change. Oh well, 50 down is better than 50 gained and I'll take it any day. I go on the 8th to see my doctor, and hopefully I can get a little more exercising in. I have gone from a 24 to a 16/18. I am feeling great! I am getting all my water and protein in, I am just having a really hard time getting in all my walking. My schedule has been so crazy and it's now getting cold, so I guess I better hurry up and buy a treadmill! Congrats again and talk with you soon! Jen -50

Hello Debra,I'm 47 & had RNY-LAP 8-2-04, and have lost 63lbs. Was on a stall for a few weeks, but wasn't doing well with getting enough protein & fluids. Been really working hard at that. I'm able to eat chicken, turkey& cheeses, but no beef. Anything with more than a little sugars, fat or white carbs make me terribly sick. So none of any of that stuff for me!! Sunday I weighed myself and had lost 2lbs, then 1 more as of this morning,so I'm hoping I'm over the stall. I have been going to a gym at least 4 days a week since 3 weeks out. Mostly just cardio in beginning, but now I've added strenght training every other day. It's a real struggle some days to get my butt there but I know I have too. I work 10 hrs a night until 3:00am.I run a every busy, high volume sports bar/rest. So some days getting out of bed is the last thing I WANT TO DO! I started at 240lbs,heart problems high bp & diabetes. I'm now off bp,diabetes,& one of the heart meds! So I say I'm doing GREAT! It was pretty tuff in the beginning but worth it.Can't wait for the rest of the lbs to melt away. Thanks for listening. Brenda

Hi Brenda... you are doing great...I am waiting to join curves... can't until my doctor releases me which is 11/1... can't wait... I have been doing some tension band work outs at home with a dvd... and walking 5 flights of stairs in the morning at work... Debra We all have to support each other... only way we can do this and we understand what we are going through...

Hi, Debra! It's the week to be stuck, it seems! I've been stuck at about 50 lbs lost (give or take) for a week now. I had a great losing week the week before last, then came to a screeching halt. C'est la vie! Doing great with water and exercise, but still can't quite hit the protein requirements most days. I really hate protein shakes. Turkey pepperoni "chips" are helping me get more protein in, but I think they're making me retain water because they're so high in sodium. I'll try drinking more water and see if it balances out. No dumping yet for me. Unfortunately, I suspect I'm not a dumper. I haven't pushed the boundaries with sugar yet--at least not on purpose. But today I grabbed the wrong kind of protein bar and got over halfway through it before I realized, "Hey, this thing is awfully sweet!" I checked the package, and sure enough, it had 24g of sugar in it! Yikes! I waited for something bad to happen, but nothing did. I've heard of people dumping really bad on far less sugar than that. I may still dump if I really eat a lot of something totally sweet, but I'm not eager to find out. Anyway, everything's peachy keen in Leslie-Land right now! Congrats to everyone for such wonderful progress. Go team go!!! ---- Leslie

Hi guys, this stuck at 50 lbs must be a norm. I have been setting on same 222 for a week. Up a pound down a pound. I have droped 54, but surely do not want to stop here! I am into size 20 from 26/28, so that is good. Some days I just do not get in my water. Protein shakes are ugh, on most days. Did buy carnation Breakfast shakes, but they only have 8 grs of protein. Added a scope of Unjury last night to beef up my protein. Was way too sweet. Will use the unflavored next time. I can eat chicken, pork, hamburger in chili, tuna and other fish. Not tried steak. I am always looking for new ideas to get the protein. Oh yes, I also eat cottage cheese and cheeses. Very little vegies and no carbs. Was getting in walking on treadmill, now my knees are giving me such a problem, walk very little. Doctor gave me some patches for the pain. Takes about 2 weeks to kick in. Have little over a week to go. Will see how they work. Surgery is the next thing on the list should they not work. All in all much better. Off bloodpressure meds, nexium and a few others. This is such a great support board. Keep up the posting.

Hello, I was stopped not stalled at 50lbs then went UP by 10-15 lbs so that when I saw my sleep apnea doc last monday I had only lost 1lb from the time he had seen me on 8/16. Granted I have severe lymphedema (lymph fluid drains into my lower legs and stays there and can weigh 10-15 pounds or more) and joint pain in both knees so I am not walking as I should though I work full time. Anyway my sleep apnea doc suggested I drop my daily calories by 10% since my body had adjusted to my low cals and inactivity. I tried that and did 1/2 mile of walk aerobics (love that Leslie Sansone dvd) three times last week and every single day (up to 1mile now) this week. When I got on the scale Sunday I had lost 17 pounds in six days. So my total is 60 pounds, I have a very long way to go but I am so excited to be off blood pressure meds and walking better and not obsessed with food and the list goes on. WLS was the best thing I could have done for myself, I am learning to cook, drink all my water and get 70-80 grams of protein easily each day. I started taking glucosamine and chondroitin for my knees two weeks ago and with the celebrex and exercise I am finally able to walk faster without the ground glass feeling in my knees. I am glad everyone is doing well and now I realize my stoppage was just my body adjusting and that I will lose the excess weight. I will see my surgeon on Monday but it is just to weigh since I feel great and have no problems. by all Terrie 409/350/>200?

Hi Terrie... sounds like you are getting in all your protein in... I hope the problem with your legs gets better as the weight continues to drop off.... What kind of dvd is that??? I have only been walking at the park after work but it sure would be nice to be able to get up in the morning and do some dvd to get the blood pumping.... and start my day off... Debra

Hi everyone, I had my surgery on 8/2 and have lost 57 pounds so far. I stalled out in week eight at 50 pounds and didnt lose a thing for about 12 days. Now the scale is starting to move again! I am working out 3 times a week at Curves and getting in all my protien and lots of water (way over the 64 oz. my doctor wants). So I guess everything is going good. Glad to hear of everyones sucess!
