How are you doing??? How much have you lost??? I am doing very well. I've just learned to slow down my eating and I don't get that pain in my pouch. As of today I have lost 51 since surgery, and 62 over all (since my first consult w/ my surgeon). But I have a LONG way to go. 521/510/459/under 200 *~Amber~*

Hey Amber! Congratulations on your weight loss! My surgery was 8/17, and I've lost 39 pounds to date. I hope to have lost 50 pounds by my 3-month check up with my surgeon next month, around Thanksgiving. I will be working hard to make that happen! Before surgery, I lost about 47 pounds over three or four years (mostly after a diabetes diagnosis and scare)---from my heaviest weight of 333. It was a time when I didn't have many pictures made of myself, and I found one the other day. Wow! I cannot believe that even I notice a big difference! I am now 247 pounds, and I still have 112 pounds to go to make my final weight loss goal of 135 (my high school weight). I think I can do it! Actually, I know I can---but it will not happen overnight! (Although I wi**** would!) But, when I think about it, I've already lost 86 pounds....and that may just be the most weight I have ever lost before---on any diet! I'm feeling very confident...empowered may be the better word for how I'm feeling. Good luck with you. Keep us informed on how you are doing! ~Laura in Alabama

I'm a 8/23 r... I have lost officially 43 pounds. Started at 243 and have lost 43 only have 70 more to go to 130 yea. What is amazing is the inches and the changes in clothes sizes. As for eating I had a fobi pouch done. Which means they attached my small intestine to my esphagus (sp??) and my stomach was attached to my chest wall. So my eating is different. I can't do Chicken or really any meat. I love the veggie burgers and vegatables with cheese. The hardest thing for me is that I miss sugar. I ate a piece of cake (very small) and dumped. That taught me. lol I think it is great with your progress. Keep it up. lynn - GA

Hey Amber, I am doing suprisingly well. I am tolerating almost everything I eat. (except chinese take-out) I have to homemake the stir fry I crave. I have lost about 65 pounds. I started out at 337 and weighed in at 270 this morning. But it flucuates. I am finally starting to get my energy back and I found that if I pour diet rite or sparkling sugar free water over ice it takes out all the carbonation. God am I happy for that. I had completely exhausted crystal light. At least for now I need a break. lol. I am finding that I can't really stand the foods I ate immediately post-op. Like eggs. I don't want anything to do with them right now. I made a splenda pumpkin pie this weekend. It was so good my family ate it all. I am excited to try more sugar free options. I still need to be getting in more protein though. I am working on that. Much Love, Shelli

Hey Shelli! Congrats on your weight loss!!! You are doing AWESOME!!!! I had the same problem with Chinese! I even asked for them to not put in the MSG and I still got sick! I understand about the Crystal Light. I am getting sick of it! The SF Kool-Aid, too. Anyways, talk to ya later! *~Amber~*

Hello Amber, My surgery was on 8/25/04. I had lap RNY. As of today I had lost 40 lbs but 3 days ago it showed I had lost 44 lbs. I seem to fluctuate 3-4 lbs at a time. Everyone can notice the change in my face and upper body so something is definitely working. I don't exercise unless you call working 3-5 hours in my flower bed. I have a recumbent bike but I'm too tired after the yard work to ride it. My surgeon said I should lose 35% of my excess body weight by my 12 week check up. That equals 61.25 lbs. I don't know if I can lost 20 lbs in 3 1/2 weeks or not. I havent' been getting in my water as I should. The only time I think to drink it is when I eat. My blood sugar has went from Fasting 300+ on 3 medications to 90-110 with no medication. No fluid pills, potassium or blood pressure pills. Only my bi-polar meds. I still have a long way to go also but I will get there eventually. Jeanette Kinley (8/25/04 - Lap RNY - 40 lbs)

Hi Jeanette! I don't see why you couldn't lose 20 pounds in 3 weeks. And gardening is exercise. But you might want to do something more aerobic, like walking to lose weight faster. I am haing a hard time with the liquids, too, but it really helps to shed the pounds. Hope all is going well. Keep me updated!!! *~Amber~*
