What can you eat?
I had my surgery Aug 9th and I seem to be able to tolerate just about anything with a couple of exceptions. I have also noticed over the past few weeks that I am able to eat more. Sometimes I worry that it is too much. I eat about 800 calories a day and the scales just dont seem to be budging very much. I was just wondering what people at the same stage are eating. Yesterday this is what I had
B 1 slice ham, 1 oz cheese
S 1 oz peanuts
L 1 slice ham, 1oz cheese, 1 oz lettuce
S Protien drink
D 1/2 Lean Cuisine dinner
S the rest of my dinner
We have the same surgery date!!! I am eating about the same as you. I have found Lean Cuisines to be my best friend. I have young children and the still want their food...chicken nuggets, mac n cheese, hot dogs, ect...so I have found myself with the lean cuisines. I have found I do not tolerate may meats yet such as chicken or roast beef...and of course these are my favorites. I have been eating a lot of cheese omlettes to try to get more protien. My loosing has slowed down and i do seem to be able to eat more at times. But, I am still loosing and I don't eat a fraction of what I did pre op. I also make better food choices now. Don't worry so much aout the number on the scale. I am sure you are doing great. Think about how much better your health is and going to be.
Good Luck,
Karen
Dear Pat
Maybe you remember me, you emailed me when I was at home and was very encouraging. My dietitan told me that we should be consuming 1000-1200 calories a day. I know from the past the less you eat the slower your metabolism becomes especially if daily /3-4 times a week physical activity is not part of your plan. I am still very conservative in what I eat.
here is what I ate on Saturday
bkfast 1 protein shake (30 gms of protein powder with double protein milk
lunch 1/2 cup cottage cheese 2ounces of mixed fruit
dinner: 3 ounces of chili ( regular with cheddar cheese on top) 2 french fries and 3 home made croutons ( I went out to dinner with my sister usually don't eat fries or regular chili)
snack: dannon lite and fit yogart.
I walk a lot at work ( 4-5000 steps a day) walk on treadmill 1/2 hour 2-3 times a week.
Once I ate an entire lean cruisine meal the next time I could eat 3/4 meat and about 1/2 the potatoes
On my scale today I weight 227.5 on the date of surgery I weighted 267
( we share the same anniversary date) Age is also a factor in weight loss
I really struggle with the water I only can get in 48-64 ounces and I have read that the more water you can get in the better

Yes I do remember you. Maybe thats part of my problem, Im not getting near 1000 calories a day yet. I'm suire age does play a big part in it, I know the older you get the harder it is to lose. Ive been trying to drink more and can usually get in about 50ox. I think I need to up my calories maybe with having a second protien drink each day.
Thanks for the reply
Patty
Patty, are you sure that's 800 calories a day? It doesn't seem like it. At two months out you could be eating more than that.
And I agree with (where did her name go?).... if you don't eat enough, you will slow your metabolism. Ask your doctor how much you should be eating and exercising. It will definitely help.
Also remember that we won't lose so quickly after a while.

My meal plan is three meals and one snack. You seem to be eating alot more often than me. I eat breakfast at about 7:30 - 8:00, Lunch between noon and 1:00, dinner at about 5:00 and a snack at about 10:00.
My day is generally like this (yesterday's menu!):
B: 3 - 4 oz homemade chicken salad.
L: 6 oz Low Carb yogurt
D: About 2 oz pork roast, broccoli
S: Advantage Protein Drink
Today' s meals look like this so far:
B: 4 oz low carb yogurt and a low carb yogurt drink 6 oz
L: 2 oz stew beef cooked in the crock pot
S: will be in the afternoon today, becasue we have a hockey game near dinner time. I will probably have a protein drink.
D: A quiche sort of pie that I made: ground pork from the leftover pork roast, eggs, mozzarella cheese, salt and pepper cooked in the oven. Figure a 9" pie, I will have about 1/8 or 1/10 of that.
I have 3 small meals and 3 small snacks everyday to try and get my calories up. The dietician told me to aim for 1000 - 1200 a day. It seems hard to reach that amount since we can only eat small amounts. Also I was told that if we eat small meals more regularly it speeds up our metabolism.
Thanks for the reply.

You seem to be doing really great! I have a case of scardy cat syndrome, scared to death of adding new foods. But here's what a day looks like for me:
B 1 thing of Light N Fit Carb Control Yogert.
S Protien drink
L 2 oz Chili w/shredded cheese
S String Cheese
D 2 oz Tuna Salad w/shredded cheese
S Protien drink
And I do that pretty much every day. Once in awhile I will try something new, but these things all agree with my pouch, so I'm sticking to them
Good luck!
Aimée
