no straight liquor. Mix with diet soda or seltzer or a LOT of water. Why not a wine spritzer that you can keep diluting throughout the evening? that shouldn't hit so hard. Good luck and have a nice time, don't try to over do it liquor wise.

Diet soda? No way...the carbonation in soda and seltzers can stretch your pouch! (at least that is what I have read in the info from my surgeon, if I am wrong please forgive me. ) Joy

My surgeon doesn't want you to drink any alcohol until you are out at least 6 months. I'd be afraid to try, your still pretty early out. JUDY Open RNY 8/16/04 359/310.4/175?

A little late in posting. I have had one drink once a month since surgery. You get or atleast I get very tipsy quickly and then before you know it I am sober. I drink gin and tonic with lots of lime. My surgery advised that that was fine however dont drink and drive. Also the next day I have to pump in fliuds as I am dehydrated. So how did it go? Did you drink? lynn - GA

Hi, 8 weeks from surgery, went out do dinner with friends, had 2 bloody marys. Tomatoe juice with spices and veggies and 1/2 shot of vodka---didn't get a buzz. Tasted good!!

I know this is long after your outing, but I wanted to share with any others on the board in regards to this issue. I have been to the bar twice since surgery - once in September and once in October. My labs last week had 2 elevated liver enzyme results...the result of damaged liver cells. Now this kind of result can be attributed to fatty liver, massive fat burning, cigarettes and alcohol. My doc has never told me to not do something until these lab results. I have been instructed to have NO alcohol. (ps: I had my labs drawn the day after my outing.....probably had much to do with it.) It is a little scary when you KNOW what damage you may be causing.
