August 30th loser
Hey guys,
Had my surgery on Monday August 30th. Since then I've lost 28 pounds. I'm a slow loser but started out weighing 229. Day of surgery 226. Current weight 196. Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with a Ulcer where my new stomach was connected with my small bowel this also led to a stricture. Since then I've been taking Carfate aka Death-in-a-bottle. While I'm not a 100 percent I'm almost back to normal. Hope everyone else is doing great.

Hi Brandi,
Thanks for responding to my post. To answer your question I've NEVER been to a support group meeting. "Life is a Cabaret" I'm so busy with work and parenting that really they would have to hold the meeting either at my office or my home for me to attend. As of Friday I've lost a total of 32 pounds and feel great!!! Now if I can only get that exercise routine down to a science. But I do a lot of walking!!! What are you doing???? Brandi, you hit the nail on the head I'm back on the mend and today is the first day that my stomach has not lead my every moment and for that I"m so thankful. Are you happy??? did you experience any depression???? I did. It was truly an awakening and girl, I passed through it. Looking forward to hearing from you.
All the best,
Marcia

Hello Marcia
I also had my Surgery on 8/30/04. I have lost 47 pounds. I don't have much luck when I eat. Most of the time,I suffer with nausea and sometimes I get really weak and have to lay down. I can handle very simple foods. Whenever I introduce more complicated foods is when this happens. I guess my stomach is just taking longer to get adjusted. I'm sorry about all you've gone through since surgery. Between that and life after surgery I don't know how you do it. Surgery is hard enough to get adjusted to. Congratulations on your weight loss. Your doing great.
Lisa
Lisa,
Congratulations on your GREAT weight loss!!!! Wow 47 pounds girl you deserve a hand. Now I know and can definitely relate to how your feeling. Although You've lost that amount of weight you don't feel good physically because your constantly plaqued with nausea. I think you hit the proverbial nail on the head when you state that your "stomach is taking longer to get adjusted" this I can also relate to. I'm very cautious about what I eat this however, doesn't mean that I'm not trying/introducing new foods it's just I do this at a real slow pace. Lisa, your stomach is the best pacer so follow it's lead and you'll be fine. I sometimes have waves of nausea when I introduce things and also have to lay down. This is also part of dumping. Girl, isn't this some kind of experience. My friend is having surgery next month and on Saturday I was trying to explain to her that nothing will prepare her for this journey (what comes after) yeah the doctors appointments, psych visits are a piece of cake. But everything that comes after surgery is YOUR own experience. Continue to make progress and I hope that your will begin feeling better real soon. Take care and look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Marcia:
I had my surgery on August 30th too and as of today (10/25) I am down 35 pounds. I am a little stuck right now there, but I know it is normal. I am real happy for you too! All good things happen slowly...before you know it, it will be one year for us and it will be 100 pounds down! Good Luck to you!
