Hi, just thought I would get an Aug 3rd report. I am down 48lbs. Doing good most days. Most all pain has gone in tummy. Still having feelings of doom and gloom. Spoke with my shrink yesterday. He said it is a common problem with wls. The change in our body, hormones, and adjusting to drastic change in the chemistry of the body. He put me on a liquid Prozac. The Wellburtein did not come in liquid form. He says the body is not absorbing the Welburtien even though I break them in half and space through out the day. I still have problems getting in water and vits, as well as calcium and 6 small meals daily. Breakfast seems to be the meal that nothing tastes good. Eggs UGH, cottage cheese and fruit is OK sometimes, shakes UGH. I can eat Wendy's chili for breakfast and most any other meal. I want to try turkey jerky, but not sure how the grouchy pouch will take a strange food. White meat of chicken is not a good thing for me, stickes everytime, like a lump. Not tried steak either. This was always a difficult meat to eat pre-surgery. I eat a lot of fish, chicken thights, tuna, crab, shrimp and lobster when I can afford it. Oh yes, I have found a protein bar I like, made by Post. It is in the breakfast isle. Carb Well I believe is the name. Comes in several flavors. Good things, down 4 sizes, can walk and talk at same time, walking as much as my knee will allow, working out on upper body, and over all feel much better. I was checking out by butt, it feels so much smaller. LOL. I can even cross my legs! People have been noticing my loss or at least something has changed. It is such a pleasure to put on something and it is way too big! I just love the feeling. So far, I have had plenty of smaller sizes boxed away. Wont be long before I run out and will start shopping the used shops. Shopping! Sounds like such fun.

I'm down 50 lbs--1/3 of the way to goal! Been holding there a couple of days after losing 9 pounds in one week! I seem to get one good "losing week" per month, then the rest of the weeks I either hold steady or lose a couple of pounds. Probably has something to do with my cycle. I joined a gym and have been doing water aerobics and circuit training 2-3 times per week. Having a great time with that! Found a favorite pair of denim shorts in a drawer last week that I haven't been able to get on in a couple of years. They fit perfectly the first time I wore them a few days ago, but by the time I washed them and put them on again today, they were already getting loose! I'm able to eat most things I've tried without trouble. Still too chicken to try steak, though (no pun intended). My current favorite protein sources are turkey jerky and turkey pepperoni "chips." High sodium choices, I know, but they pack a lot of protein in a small amount of food, and they taste good. Still not hitting the minimum protein requirements many days, but I'm working on it! Problem is I'm generally not interested in eating, and if I am, I'm not looking for protein. Sometimes I wander into the kitchen out of habit, without even thinking about it--when I do that, I'm usually wanting carbs. It's all in my head, though. I'm never actually physically hungry. So I just turn around and go find something else to do. Otherwise, I'm doing great physically and am enjoying life post-wls. I sleep better, my legs and feet don't hurt in the mornings, I am spending more time playing with the kids, and I often forget that I've even had surgery. My pouch reminds me, of course, when I eat too fast or take too big a drink of water! ---- Leslie 5'3" 282/232/135 (97 to go!)

My surgery was a week later than you girls, on Aug. 9th. I am down 52 pounds and I have been pretty fortunate with the foods. Not too much bothers my pouch, any kind of fish, green beans and dry chicken seems to bother it. I def will have to look for that Protien bar by Post. The only one I tried was an Atkins bar and it was terrible. I have to confess that I still have trouble getting in all my protien, water and vitamins. For about a month my pouch was very sore with anything cold that I drank, its now finally accepting cold water again. That really did hamper my weight loss. I am happy with the 52 pounds but I have alot to lose so it still feels a bit too slow. I haven't changed clothing sizes yet that I know of, although I haven't actually tried any other sizes on yet. My clothes are starting to get a bit baggy. The place I really notice it is in my face, fingers and feet. My shoes are lose and I can now actually wear my wedding band comfortably. The first 6 weeks I slept on the lazy boy. I couldnt sleep in the bed because I just cant sleep lying on my back. Now I am sleeping in the bed but I wake up a couple of times a night with a sore hip. Unfortunately one place I also noticed a weight loss and a size loss was my breasts. The girls went straight from a 48dd to a 46d. How come those are the first things to go, lol? I also noticed a collar bone trying to peak out the other day. Patty

Hey Marla, I am down 62 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!! I enjoy myself a little better now that I can go to a restaurant and sit at the table without my belly touching. I eat lots of cottage cheese, cheese, chicken, but pretty much any meat is good for me. No tummy pains. Life is great!!!!! Lisa 364/302/190

Hi Lisa, you are doing so good! Congrats on your weight loss. I can eat most all meat at this point. Have not tried steak. Perhaps in couple weeks. Keep up the good work.

Hello Marla, my weight loss is slow 40 lbs in 2 months.. but the inches are coming off... I have gone from a size 18 to a 14... I had to buy new clothes cause the 18's were too big... great feeling... I go see my doctor on 11/1 for my 3 month check up at which time I am hoping he will release me to join curves and start really working out.... I want to tighten up all this skin... I am pretty much getting all my protien in with just eating... I don't do any shakes.. I eat turkey breast meat and swiss cheese in the morning, and for lunch a smart ones meal and then dinner is usually a chicken breast and vegetables and some fruit for dinner... I did try some milk several weeks ago and I did get sick with that... had dumping of both ends.... not fun... so I wont try that again... My biggest problem is getting in the water and then remembering to take my vitamins... I just forget.... I am so glad to see everyone is doing great with the weight loss.... Debra

Hi Debra, you are doing great. I have some weeks I loose and gain same pound over and over. This week I weighed first time since last Friday and I had lost 2lbs. The scale calls me each morning. I just want to see the pounds drop like flies, not so for last couple weeks, very slow. But coming off! That is what counts. Keep up the good work.

Hello, everybody! You all are sure taking those pounds off quick - I wish I was going as well. I've lost 35 lbs since surgery, 58 altogether. But I'm down to an 18 from a 24! YEA! No more BP meds, and I feel great! So I guess that counts for something. My worry is that I can eat anything without too much trouble, and I have to really struggle some days to keep my portions small, & calories below 1000. Exercise is getting easier now though. Marla, I'm sure things will look sunny again soon for you. Just look how great your weight loss has been! Happy shopping and God bless you! Jill 253/230/195/153 (started/surgery day/today/goal)
