Hi, I have tried so many protein bars in attempt to find one I like, no luck. I know many people are using them, so some one out there must know a really good one. If you would share that information, I would be mist greatful.

I usually eat a bar called "Momentum". It's pretty good. Comes in double chocolate, peanut butter and chocolate, and caramel nut and chocolate. I eat like a half of one for breakfast, and sometimes the rest for dinner. It's pretty low in carbs and high in protein. Here's the stats for a whole bar: Calories: 150 Total fat: 6 g (saturated = 3.5g) Carbohydrates: 17g (2g fiber, 1 g sugar, 12 g sugar alcohol) *Net Carbs: 3 g Protein: 12g I find them in the breakfast aisle, near all of the breakfast bars. The best one (in my opinion) is the peanut butter one. Like I said, I usually only eat half (at most) at a time. Hope this helps! Dawn

Thanks the information. I am not sure how the sugar alcohol works. Is it the same as sugar? I do not want to dump!

Sugar alcohols should not affect you like white sugar...HOWEVER...I have heard of some people dumping on sugar alcohols. Chances are you'll probably be fine but be prepared! I eat the Atkins Advantage bars - they range from 17-22g of protein.

The fear of dumping is strong enough to not take a chance. I also have been eating the Advantage bars. Some I like some not so good per my taste buds.

Well, if you've tried the Atkins bars then you've had sugar alcohols - if you didn't dump then you're fine! Most 'sweet' things that are low-carb are made with sugar alcohols (whether the package notes it or not). I'm the same way with the different flavors - some I really like (peanut butter, coconut, mocha crunch) but some I could do without (almond brownie, cookies n creme). Take care, Nicole

Always did, even pre op. I was a horrible diabetic. I need to keep total carbs in any single meal down less than the double digits if I can. Not to mention that the sugar alcohols stimulate the intestines to - uhm - "move" faster. I always end up having ot run to the bathroom. But if you CAN manage the sugar alcohols (a lot of people CAN, Atkins and others may not even COUNT sugar alcohols when they add up carbs) then the Slimfast LOW carb bars are the way to go. you have to read the label, though, becasue Slimfast makes bars that aren't low carb, and some that ARE. But htey are GOOOOD. But htey make me DUMP. Can't even keep my eyes open, headachey, lightheaded, nauseas. Enen half a bar. I just need to stick to proteins for now, and any carbohydrates I have are soft cooked veggies. Good luck.
