Hi guys, I just had the most (well almost) EXCRUCIATING 2 hours of my life (except for childbirth and kidney stones). I'm not sure what's wrong with me. I had surgery 08/03/04. Beforehand I had an abdominal ultrasound, and was told my gall bladder was fine. I've never experienced any pain since surgery (except the minor recovery pain). THEN, out of nowhere as I'm standing in line at Subway to get dinner for my hubby and son, I felt like someone stabbed a knife right into my abdomen! It was in the very center of my abdomen, right below where my ribs come together... After the initial intense pain, it ached so badly it hurt to breathe! I tried laying down when I got home, but nothing helped. I felt like I had to hunch over when I stood up because it felt like I had been punched! During all of this, I did have some gas, but no BM's... it wasn't like the normal pain you associate with gut rot (like if you ate something really greasy pre-op and then got the runs--- it wasn't like that at all). It was a more severe stabbing pain, and it stayed put. It lasted 2 hours, and I tried taking a shower, but even that didn't help. What do you think it could be? Could I have gone from no gall stones to gall stones in just 2-3 months???? Again, the pain is center abdomen, just below where my ribcage comes together. It had been at least 3 hours since I had last eaten... Please help!!!!! Dawn

I have no idea, but contact your surgeon ASAP. I had my gallbladder out 4 or 5 years ago. Best I can remember, my pain went through to my back.
