My dr. released me to eat pretty much what I want within reason. They just told me to introduce one new thing at a time. That way if I get sick I will know what did it... Sondra

I tried to eat some meats and they all got stuck (what an awful feeling) . So for a while I'm sticking to vegs...soups..oatmeal..pretty much anything but beef, chicken, and tuna. I ate a cucumber...without the seed...and had no problem as long as I chewed it a lot. Once I took 2 gulps of crystal light (I wasn't thinking) and boy did I have those pains in my chest. Today I am going to have chili.....lots of protein in that as long as you watch the carbs in the sauce. Good luck on your weight loss journey.

I went to the class last night which is for those transitioning from purees and liquids to soft foods. We got a lot of great suggestions: - avoid beef - anything you eat, you should be able to mash/cut with a fork - if you can't it may be too tough - eat whole grains rather than white - if you try bread, have it toasted Of course, the priority is always protein, protein, protein. I am eating eggs, some chicken, cheese. Simple and basic - but also still having 1 protein drink a day and typically some soup at lunch time. Jen (8/24/04)

Hi I'm six weeks post op and am eating everything almost. I had chicken, pork chops, hamberger this past weekend and had no problems. I haven't tried bread yet except for toast. Everything seems to go down just fine. Sometimes I wonder if they actually did my surgery. Haven't thrown up once from any food. I think I'm one of the lucky ones. I do introduce a new food one at a time. That way if I have a problem I would know what it came from. Good Luck.

I also have a bad time with meat.......I do okay with tuna as long as I have a little cottage cheese between bites......I don't know why but it works......I have also found out that if my belly is feeling kind of yucky.......I can drink warm bouillion and it goes away for the day......I don't have much bread because it seems to be hard to eat and go down......So why take the chance.......I don't by any means eat just whatever though.......I try to make all my choices to meet what I need and not anything that I think might be high calorie or fat......I do have warm tea which soothes anything that might be bothering me including gas......I don't have coffee like some because it is just like a drug to me and I don't want to get started again......I do have oatmeal because it gives me a warm comfortable full and last a long time......I drink very slow but carry water with me everywhere because you drink without noticing it too much and it gets my water all in.........I have been feeling really good and losing so I must be doing something right.......And I haven't had to dump either.......Those are what I do......I hope it helps.......Janice

I'm 5wks out (8/30) and pretty much eating anything. Ofcourse, some things go down nicer than others. I'm in the middle of buying a house and moving in to it, so fast foods meals have been a ritual. Can't wait till I can make up my own healthy food concoctions in my new kitchen I've had: -half a jr. burger -2-3bites of hot dogs -bread (don't recommend it though, afterwards, you get a blown up feeling, as if it expands in my pouch - so if you have a bite too much, yuck) -Sushi (cali rolls only, so far) Ive had 2-3 rolls whole, and have also removed the rice and that allows me to enjoy it better -Hot and sour soup....yuuuumy! Totally recommend it. I've been living off of this soup and Miso soup. -cheese + crackers; add some salami here and there -yoshinoya chicken bowls (kid's size with not too much rice), and just chicken in general. I've also had salad, from Carl's Jr. and start eating the grilled chicken first. -Watermelon is divine! just not too much. -grapes, seedless
