8/3/04 Post Op's Weigh In
Awesome job Debra!!! I can't believe how great your clothing size drop is!!!!! I've lost 37 pounds as of today. I think I'm a really slow loser... probably always have been. Don't worry about the actual weight #, it's obvious the increase in exercise is helping you to lose inches! I'm going to try and up my exercise routine!
Dawn
I had surgery 8/3/04. My 7 week weigh in was a loss of 32lbs. Glad to here that I'm normal. My doctor reassured me that the weight would in deed come off. He says a little slower than some. He says the more you weigh the faster it will come off. I started at 255 and now I'm 223. I would like to praise all of you in your efforts. Keep the prayers coming.
Hi, I'm new here. I came looking for this exact thread because I've become concerned about my relatively slow loss. I've lost 37 lbs. since 8/3. I see there are others here with similar numbers, which is somewhat reassuring. But I still wish I didn't feel like I am "behind the curve!" Pretty much everyone in my local support group who had surgery around the same time I did has lost oodles more than me--in the 50-60+ range. I also printed the average weight loss chart at obesityhelp.com for my starting and goal weights, and I'm significantly behind what it shows I might expect to lose by the end of the second month. I lost almost 30 the first month, which was on track, but I've lost less than 10 in the second month--nowhere near the 20-30 that I understand is average for the first 2-3 months.
Don't get me wrong--I'm thrilled that I've lost more than I have in years. The last time I lost this much was through "white-knuckle" dieting on a medically supervised liquid diet program, and it took a lot longer than this to lose it! It's just that my surgeon told me that statistics show that the first year is the window of opportunity, and that one should lose all one can in those first 12 months because it will never be this easy again. So I'm anxious about already being "behind" after only 2 months.
Anyway, I'm losing inches (most significantly, 4" from my waist and 4" from my hips), which makes me happy. And I joined a gym last week and plan to dramatically raise my activity level in the coming weeks. Maybe that will help.
Thanks for letting me express my concerns.
