I am almost 6 weeks post op. Over the last week or so I've noticed that I start getting panicky when it comes to meal time. I can't find anything that I enjoy eating. Things are starting to make me nausea, i.e. Tuna, Crystal Light, eggs. It has come to a point where I dread to eat a meal. I don't know if I am eating too fast or eating wrong but just about everytime I eat I feel bad afterwords. Especially since I started adding regular foods. I felt fine when I was eating soups, etc. Please send some advice soon.

I have had similar problems and it is starting to get a little better for me. I think I eat too fast and don't give my brain a chance to register the feeling of full before I feel that awful feeling in my chest and nausea. Also you need to eat slowly and chew very very well. That is the best advice I can give you. I hope it gets better for you soon. God Bless, Joy Lap RNY 8/31/04 391/353/150

I am 6 weeks post op too and I have a habit of eating too fast and then getting pains afterwards. I've been practising slowing down. Be very slow about adding new foods. Try one at a time and after your first bite wait for a min and see how you are going to react to it before you have more. Making sure that your foods are moist helps too. Maybe try some low fat mayo on your tuna. Good luck Patty

I am having same problem with most foods. Nausea! The only thing that seems to help is saltines. I eas one very slowly. I tried Wendy's chilli last night and found it very good. Change of taste. The small size is enough for couple of meals or more. When I eat the least bit fast, I get the hurting in chest, so very slowly is best. Ofcourse I forget and then the lump is there.

Count me in. I feel naucious a lot of the time and am luck to be getting 30 grams of protein a day. I just can't do the shakes and powders. Does anyone have a recommendation for a protein barthat's palpable? I've been eating a lot of sf popcicles, egg drop soup and chicken but that doesn't add up to the 60g we should be getting in. Thanks for the question Sarah. Best~barb
