august 23rd its one month
I'm doing pretty good. I plateaued for two weeks but have started dropping again recently. I have lost about 45 pounds. I am having a hard time getting all my fluids in also. I have this tasteless protein powder that I add to everything to try to get it all in. I feel 80% back to my old self. just a little pain in my incision area when i over do things. I always have this nasty metallic taste in my mouth that I can't ever seem to get rid of. I am not really eating so many soft foods anymore. I have found that salad type stuff like chicken or tuna salad sits very well in my stomach.
Hi Brandi, had open RNY on the 23rd also. Down 34lbs. and getting stronger every day. I'm on soft foods now and struggling eating enough. I did find some protein drinks at GNC that have 40gr of protein in 20oz and it comes in all flavors and so far the ones i've tried have been very good. The name of the drink is Isopure. Besides that food that I've been eating is chicken, fish, mashed and baked potatoes, soft veggies, I've even had the topping off a veggie pizza, it was very good. Well congrats to us both on our losing trip. Stay in touch so we can compare. Becky
I am doing great!!! I am down 32 lbs and have lost tons of inches....down 2 sizes!!!! I just started swimming laps today and that felt great to have enough energy to do so after working all day!!! I am not doing well with meat but have had little problems with any thing else i have tried so far. I had crackers/ham/cheese today and found out to my surprise that it went down very well!!! I have no problem getting my fluids in and most days get all the protien i am required. just not eating much...nothing sounds good to me. i have been craving fresh vegetable and dip but have'nt got enough nerve up to try them yet. I am still on soft foods but told as long as I didn't have seeds or skins that I could have the vegatables. i am glad to hear everyone is doing well also!!!! barb
I just discovered this board. Howdy buddies!
I had a Lap Band and at four weeks I was down 35 pounds, but going up and down a little because of water retention and a horrible period.
I'm eating just about anything (don't kill me), but the band doesn't carry a lot of dietary restrictions. I can't tolerate the high protein drinks, so I'm getting my protein from cheese, chicken, fish, eggs and protein powder.
PMS ha**** hard during this fourth week and I'm hoping I can get back on track.

Looking forward to keeping up with this group of losers. (That's good)
Onward!
CONGRATULATIONS TO US ALL
i am a month post op and am down 34 pounds...my energy level has finaly reached a level where i feel like walking everywhere...it is wonderful...i had hit a plateau but i think the walking is helping...i'm now on mechanilly soft foods...i can't tolerate the powder proteins...i've bought the isopure and it taste like (excuse me) vomit...so i have been doing alot of meet...but other than that i am feeling awesome mentally and physically
I ALSO HAD MY SURGERY ON 8/23 AND I AM DOWN 30 POUNDS. IT SHOULD BE MORE BUT I HAVE TAKEN LITTLE BITS OF MY KIDS FOOD HERE AND THERE. SOMETIMES IT AGREES WITH ME AND SOMETIMES IT DON'T. I'M ON SOFT SOLID FOODS NOW SO I MOSTLY EAT FISH, CHICKEN BREAST, POTATOS AND SOFT VEGGIES. I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN I WAS ABLE TO EAT CRACKERS AND CHEESE. NOW I CAN'T WAIT TO GO TO THE GYM BY MY HOUSE.
Its now five weeks for me. Surgery was also Aug 23. I am only down 21 pounds. I have not had problems eating anything. But I am careful to only eat protein foods. That metallic taste is ketosis. You are burning fat. That is a very good thing. I can easily get in 3 water bottles a day and one protein shake and I still eat 3 meals a day. Small meals. I exercise every single day. Never miss. 3 miles walking. Starting to jog again though. I must be a very slow loser compared to all of you. But I will get there slowly but surely.
