need answers from fellow August post ops
I had open RNY on August 17th. Since then I have been hospitalized twice. I have a large, hard knot at the top of my incision. Everytime I take a couple of bites or swallows of liquid I get a feeling of pain and hardness at the top of the incision. I always feel like I have something stuck. Also feel like something is stuck in my throat. I can't get enough fluid or food in. I've only lost 18lbs. I'm not really worried about the weight loss just the dehydration I keep suffering from. I've had a CAT scan, upper GI and scope. Found nothing abnormal. Does anyone else have any of these problems.
Thanks,
TH
I only have a problem with drinking. The only thing I can drink is very hot tea as soon as it cools a bit I cant drink it. Drinking for some reason causes me alot of pain in my upper abdomen. Eating on the other hand is fine. If this doesn't clear up soon you should get back to the Drs and have him do some more testing.
Best wishes
Patty
I believe that some people come out of surgery with very, very sensitive pouches. Personally, I couldn't eat barely anything...everything sat so hard (meaning it felt like it was "stuck"), I was miserable. I couldn't even drink cold beverages! Finally, I turned to very HOT tea and to good hot soup...I had bean with bacon. My pouch seemed to be much calmed by good warm beverages.
If they have already checked out everything and it's all medically fine, it's probably that your pouch is being angry and stubborn. It took me an entire month to figure out what was making me so sick, and it changes ALL the time as pouchie gets stronger and less mean...but hang in there and try really warm foods...and NOTHING that would sit "hard"...whi*****ludes mashed potatoes, sometimes dairy products, etc. You know what your uncomfy feeling is...just avoid the things that are truly uncomfortable. You have plenty of time to get to heavier foods later. If you like hot tea, you can try liquid protein in order to get that part in...liquid protein has been my Godsend! I posted a long reply about it in the thread just above about Tracy not being able to do Protein shakes any more.
Good Luck!!

To me, the Cherry tastes like Marchino cherries, and so I make it like a "Hot cherry tea". I just put the dosage in a coffee cup, add water, nuke it, add a teaspoon of Splenda, and I'm ready to go.
I get my liquid protein from http://www.pro-stat.info/ make sure you choose the 64 if you order from there, the Bariatric Liquid that doesn't have sugar. Feel free to read up about the liquid protein...I am very, very glad for it. This particular kind you have to order two bottles at once, so may not be for the person who needs to try it first...but I am sure you can find comparable items out there.
Good Luck
