Hello Friends! I am 13 days post op and started keeping track of my food intake today on Fitday.com. I was looking through all of the literature I received from the surgeon and I cannot find how many grams of protein and how many calories I should be shooting for everyday. Can someone please give me some recommendations or suggestions. Thank you all. Joy Lap RNY 8/31/04 391/376/150

I believe the protien should be a minimum of 60 grams and higher doesn't hurt. As far as calories at this early stage you probably can't even eat 500 yet. I am 5 weeks post op and struggling to try and get 600 cals in a day. Patty

Immediately post-op, my dietician said 50-60 grams for me, but I think the number of suggested grams is partly based on your BMI (the higher the BMI, the higher the grams). Good luck!

I'm suppose to get in 66 g. of protein a day. Our requirement is based on height and goal weight. We don't have to count calories this soon as long as we are always eating protein first. Christie

Joy, Protein ranges from 60-80 grams based on BMI. The main goal is to get in your protein, liquids, and vitamins. Calories are not a major concern right now. I would concentrate on my protein intake and make sure I am getting in as much water/liquids as possible. Denise
