Why A Dry Mouth?

Can anyone please be so kind and tell me why my mouth dries up everytime I drink water. I have no problem drinking it. I love cold water. I called the nutritionist and I have not received any answer. I also asked the main nurse when I went to get my staples removed in my doctors office. She said probably my system was getting used to my changes, and continue drinking cold water. I don't get a dry mouth with anything else excep****er. Please help. I thank you for any answer you might have.

This may not relate but I kept having a dry mouth even after drinking water and I was dehydrated. I simply was not getting enough fluids in. I drank 2 bottles of water and when I talked my mouth was so dry it felt like cotton. I increased my fluid intake and it really helped. God Bless You. Jeanette (8/25/04)

Luis, I found for the first 2.5 weeks after surgery I had this issue. I also found that NOTHING quinches my thirst. It isn't until recently that I am able to feel relief, and I found this by eating ice chips or ice in a snow cons consistancy. It is definately surgery related. I am finding now one month out, that it is going away. Really weird things that happen to us isn't it? Denise

My mouth stays dry. I have not been able to quench my thirst. I miss sodas.

I miss sodas sooooooooooooooooooo much. Will we be able to drink sodas again? I have a hard time with these sugar- free drinks. Thanks for the information and God bless you.
