Meat keeps getting stuck and making me sick

I was seen by the dietician on my 3wk post-op visit and was instructed to make attempts to incorporate 1 ounce cheese or meat into my meals. I have tried shredded chicken, turkey meatball, grilled fish, and ground beef ...every on of those items after the first or second bite caused me discomfort and vomiting. It feels as if its stuck and wont pass on. I am careful to chew very well and offer moistness so not sure what I'm missing. Has anyone else encountered a similar situation?

I haven't had that problem but maybe try mixing a little mayo, mustard or gravy with it. You may even need a small sip of water to wa**** down. Good luck Patty

make sure your meats are wet, moist and tender....the wetter the better.

Yes, I have. "Princess Pouch" hates meat. I focus on cheese, beans and nuts, and I totally rely on my Unjury protein mix. I use the unflavored and mix it with oatmeal or pudding, and I mix chocolate with low carb dairy drink or milk or Starbucks SF vanilla lattes.... mmmm. I'm 5 months out, so I tried for the first four or so to choke down the meat, but I threw up all the time. SO, I surrendered to the pouch! My weight loss is good (60 lbs - but I started at 237, so I lose more slowly than people who have more to lose) and I'm healthy, and I really don't miss meat that much. People say to keep trying over time because the pouch changes and heals, but I'm not in a big hurry. Everyone is different. I can't eat meat, but I CAN eat 1/4 of a pizza hut personal pan veggie pizza! Good luck!! Jaime

Lisa, Some of us can not tolerate meat in our pouch. I listen to my pouch. If it says then I have learned it means it. It only allows me to eat refreid beans and cheese. If I am lucky, it lets me have a SMALL amount of beef (like the inside of a taco bell buritto) . Yesterday I was adventurous, and I was able to eat 5 small shrimp. That is the first. Like you I was every time. I tend to stick to cheese, refried beans- the things I know I will not Good Luck! Denise

Yep, me too. My doc put me on solids two weeks ago and the only thing I have tolerated is Tuna steak and only 5 bites and very very small bites. I am sticking to cheese, beans agree sometimes and cheese not all the time either. I am ordering unjury to help out I could not do any of the protein from bariatric eating or wls.com I could not even get them near my nose, let alone in my mouth the time I did drink it it made me . Nuts I can do 3 or 4 but mostly liquids still for pouchy. Take Care and eventually we will have other foods hopefully we can add in. Hugs Brenda
