Stomach Noises
I get it ALL OF THE TIME! It is like a growling that actually can be heard across the room sometimes! I notice it mostly while and right after I eat or drink. I asked my surgeon, and he said that it was just me adjusting to the new shape of my GI tract. It has decreased some in the past week (I am 2 weeks post-op), but is still present. Sometimes stretching seems to help (I put my arms over my head and stretch them one at a time, like I am climbing a ladder) and work some of the extra gas out.
Are you taking any prescription medication like "Protonix?" My doctor prescribed it for me immediately following surgery. I have some occasional stomach noise, but it is very rare, and I don't give it much thought. Everyone has a stomach, therefore everyone can make a noise. Don't worry about it! Keep eating and drinking, though. Don't get hungry!
Here's some information about Protonix, in case you want to ask your doctor about it:
What is Protonix used for?
Protonix is used for:
§ the short-term (up to 8 weeks) healing of a gradual breakdown (erosion) or sore (ulceration) in the esophagus which may be caused by the backward flow of gastric acid from the stomach into the esophagus (gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD). For people who have not healed after 8 weeks of treatment, an additional 8 week course of Protonix may be considered.
§ the maintenance of healing or erosive or ulcerative esophagitis GERD.
§ the long-term treatment of medical conditions that result in the body secreting too much acid, including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
