Denise I am so sorry to hear that you and your pouch are not doing very well still. You have been having problems since the beginning and I really think you sould contact your doctor ASAP. I'm a 8-17 newbie and even though I had problems with water the 1st couple of days I am doing really well. Every doctors stages are different but I am able to eat puree meats such as deviled ham and tuna. If it wasn't for the holes I would think it didn't happen. I have to measure my food to keep myself from going over my fullness level. Because I have no sickness. Okay Denise you asked for advice. It is not normal to be sick. I know everyone has nausea but if everything is the way it should be you should be progressing something. Call your doctor honey it could be a stricture or smoothly. Prayers Jackie

Thanks Jackie, I have called my surgeon, and was advised to stay hydrated, and to try to pack that protein in. I have an appt to se ehim on 9/22. You know, this surgery and its affects are a challenge to each of us in different ways. I can equate this experience so far to one of my preganancies. I ed all day every day for 9 months with both kids. Testures, tastes, smells, sights, all made me ....I am thinking this is just the way my body is handling this surgery. I am just praying that this is temporary and will go away in a few weeks/months. I know I can not live like this for the rest of my life. Thanks for the prayers and support. Denise

Hi Denise, I had my surgery on 8/13, just a day behind you! I can't tolerate anything fruit flavored or with aspartame or splenda either -- it just tastes terrible! This is a change from prior to surgery when I enjoyed them, but my dietician says this sometimes happens after surgery. After the first week, I also got really sick of soups. I ended up pureeing real meals - like beef stew, lasagna, etc. to get me through that stage. At 24 days out, I've only been on soft foods for a week and am still only eating about a quarter of a cup of food at one time. And I do have it eat it very slowly for it to sit well. Did you do pureed foods before you switched to soft foods? Maybe your pouch isn't ready for soft foods yet. What quantity of food are you eating at one time now (what part of a cup)? If you're not able to tolerate at least 1/4 cup of anything in one meal, you may want to check with your doctor -- maybe you're developing a stricture. Take care!

Hi Diana, I can't eat a cup of anything. Try two tsps ot a tablespoon. The only thing I can get down on a regular basis is refried beans mixed with cheese. I try to get that in once a day. I also try to get my whole shake in. I used to be able to drink all 8 oz's. Now I can barely get it in. The problem is, I can not get in cottage cheese, broth, Jello, soup, etc.. Also, I can not eat anything pureed. The texture, or smell or sight of this stuff makes me . Its almost like being pregnant all over again. As soon as I try to bring it to my lips I start to gag and next thing you know I have a call into the surgeon this morning. Thanks for your advice Denise

Awww, I hate hearing that you're having so much trouble, that really stinks! Is there any pain associated with your vomitting? Like does your chest hurt? I know one person here had a vitamin lodged between her stomach and intestine that would allow some fluid through, but anything else she threw up... but she also had the same pain associated with eating too much/too fast with it. I hope that's not the case with you! I hope you get better soon, too! Dawn

Denise I would call my Dr about that, it doesn't sound right to me. I had my surgery 3 days before you and I seem to be able to tolerate almost everything I have tried so far. With me it's worrying about having too much. Hope you are able to get this dealt with soon. Patty

Hi Patty, When I called the surgeon, he said to stay hydrated if possible and to try to ingest as much protein as possible. Well, I am doing that. I have a call into him this morning. I wish I had your problem instead. Thanks, Denise

Hi Denise, Im so sorry that you are having so much trouble. You and I are twin dates, and I am eating more then I should be able to (I think). Yesterday I had 3 small bowls of soup at one sitting. It was only liquid, but it was a lot. I can eat an omlete with 4oz of egg whites & 2 slices of cheese at one sitting. I can eat saltines (about 5) at one time, and I am getting in 3 shakes a day. You might just be an eaiser thrower upper, but I still think you should but your Dr. You dont want want to get dehydrated and end up back in the hospital on IV liquids. Good luck, and let us know whats going on. We all care. Sue
