Plateau already
Count me in on the slow/plateau too! I lost 20lbs in my first 2 weeks and then only 5lbs these last couple of weeks! And I've been following my diet to a 'T' and exercising my butt off!!!!
But.....the body is a funny thing. You have to keep confusing it. Pre-op it was used to getting A LOT more calories than we're eating now. When the calories dropped our bodies freaked out and said 'hold on! I'm not getting any fuel - slow down the metabolism!' It's called the 'hibernation syndrome'. It typically happens in weeks 2-4 and takes a couple of weeks for the body to realize 'well, I'm not going to be getting a lot of calories so I have to use the fat stores.' A good way to 'fool' the body is to exercise, exercise, exercise!
My dietician said that I should bump up my calories - my body is used to the 500 I've been giving it and if i can bump it up to 800 it will start revving up my metabolism - thus causing me to lose weight! Weird huh???
You have to keep in mind the BIG picture....yes, I only lost 5lbs in 2 weeks but combined with my pre-op weight loss I've lost 50lbs since June 1st! That's 10 bowling balls!!!
Good luck!
