Oh my GOD the cost !!!!

Atlanta Medical Center saves no time in sending the bill for the hospital stay. My wonderful 3 night 4 day stay at their brillant resort cost me a total of $53,000. AWH Thank heavens I have insurance. I have new respect for those that are doing this self pay. Then you need to add on the physicians cost the anesthesilogist (sp) cost along with others I'm sure. I flipped out. No wonder people file bankruptcy when a family member gets really sick and stays in the hospital for any duration. Just posting An Oh My GOD! note. lynn

$53,000? And I thought my $32,000 was ridiculous, and that was with a 4 day stay in ICU at DeKalb Medical.... Of course, this is not including the specialist fees etc...it is just the hospital stay. God Bless us and Thank God for Insurance Denise

I just got my hospital bill today....$58.565!!!!! I couldn't beleive it!!!!

Just got my hospital bill today. The total was $45,683.94; however, I am on Medicare so they adjusted it $33,534.48 for a total bill of $12,149.46. which seems much more reasonable. Thank God for insurance. I don't know how much of this Medicare will pay but my BCBS-Fed will pick up the difference. (Part of the bill being so high was that I was in surgery 439 minutes so they charged $4242 for anesthesia and $16,480 for the OR for the 7+ hours). Jeanete (8/25/04 Lap RNY)
