Yes, my sleeping schedule is way off. I go to bed at 10 pm and wake up at 4 am. Sleep, from 5 am to 6am. Up til 10am, then must nap till noon or 1 pm. I'm almost 3 weeks out and am trying not to take naps during the day, but I still get to tuckered out by mid-day that I sit in the chair and 'out' I go. lol. I'm just going with the flow until my body adjusts to being rearranged on the inside.

I am sleeping about 12 hours a day. I usually go to bed around midnight and don't get up til noon. Of course, I have bipolar disorder and that may affect it. I could probably get up earlier if I forced myself but I don't. The days that I have gotten up earlier I have taken a nap in the afternoon. I wish I would sleep less! Jeanette (lapRNY8/25/04 -16)

I have been an insomniac ever since the surgery. Does anyone know the cause?

Hi Kathleen, I have been having some sleep schedule problems. I did have some before surgery, I think due to pre-menopause and also sleep apnea. My schedule is odd anyway because my job starts at 5AM. I fall asleep watching TV at 9PM and then I wake up at 3AM or so. During my recovery when I was on pain meds, I would doze a lot during the day and then I would be awake until 4:30AM. That only happened about 3 times...Alice

I know also, from past experience with major surgeries, the anesthesia messes with you for quite some time. This can play a major part in sleep problems. Also, if you are still on pain medication it can mess up your sleep cycle. Be sure to talk to the doc about it at your next visit!

I know that it doesn't help anyone a bit-I am so glad to hear that I'm not the only one to give up sleep AND food! I couldn't imagine that it was happening to anyone else. Good luck to all!
