Or am I just a freak? LOL I have no pain. Just a bit of soreness...but barely ever. I didn't even need pain meds in the hospital too much. Am I a lucky one to be feeling like I should be back to normal? Should I smack myself and say CALM DOWN LADY YOU NEED TO REST? My body is telling me I'm fine but my head is saying not yet. I feel the same way and I'm 43. Isn't it amazing? I'm so glad that we feel this great.

I guess I'm freaky too because I had very little pain and have had no problem with my surgery. HOWEVER, my jaw "locked" after surgery and it has caused severe jaw and ear pain. I feel stupid because here I go through 7 hours of surgery and I'm complaining about my jaw! I've had several hernia surgeries that were much more painful than this surgery. I've been riding my exercise bike for 30 minutes since 6 days post-op. I do get tired at times but no problems from surgery. Just this darn JAW! Use the cues your body gives you and when it's had enough stop. Don't over-exert yourself but you don't have to lay around on the couch either if you feel like doing something. IMHO May God Bless You. Jeanette (LapRNY 8/25/04)

Biscuit: Yes, your, surgeon is a magician! So is mine! (even though I have pain! ) Jeanette: 7 hours in surgery and no pain? WOW! I was only in surgery for 2 hours. All of you who are saying you have very little pain: I hope you realize how lucky you are--I still need help with most things. And it is oh so uncomfortable sitting in front of this computer... but I just couldn't stay away. Love you guys!!! Joy

Thats great that you feel so good but make sure you do get enough rest. There is alot of healing going on inside right now. I didn't really have alot of pain more of a discomfort. But then again I'm old. Patty

Melissa, I had no pain after my bypass, did not want the morphine and did not use it..also did not use the pain meds that came home. I did have complications, but had no pain associated with that either. I did feel like I did abut 500 sit ups in a 20 min time frame, and that took a bit to get used to. Each day it got better and better. I was in surgery over 5 hours...I am going to say to you that this was major surgery, and no matter how old you are, you can over do it. Make sure to get some rest time in ok? That is essential in healing. Take care and much Denise

Sounds like I must not be the norm, because I had terrible pain. My RNY was open. I needed morphine for 3 days after the surgery and still felt like I was dying. I think it is great you guys had such positive experiences. I must just be one major wimp. Karen
