I had surgery on 8/5/04, I am cleared to start trying different foods. What are you all eating at this point? For some reason everytime I eat small pieces of chicken I get the feeling like it is stuck in my throat. I chew it to death. Is there an easier meat to try first?? Or other protein choices besides peanut butter, cottage cheese & string cheese??

I am having a real problem getting in my proteins. How do you do it? Would you tell me what exactly you are eating? I tried a small piece of chicken but I can't get it down. Fish is turning my stomach right now. Help! I had my surgery on August 12th and have lost only 24lbs.

I am cleared for soft foods. Right now I eat scrambled eggs, soft pasta, chilli, cottage cheese and soups. I've also eaten a michellina's light meal. I havent really gotten into meat yet but fish doesnt seem to agree with me. Patty

I'm not a big fan of it myself, but I hear eating lunchmeats like turkey or ham super thinly sliced is good. Also tuna salad or chicken salad (like meat mixed with mayo, etc) is pretty good. I get the rotisserie chicken b/c it's super moist and chew that 40+ times before swallowing. By then it's like liquid!!!!!

I had surgery and on 8/3 and my dr. has cleared me to try different foods... I have chicken pretty much every day its easy to get my protein in that way... but I have had fish, the pudding, a banana with some peanut butter, salad.... shrimp salad is really good... I just take small bites and chew really well.... I havent had a problem yet... I really am craving some sweets but I am staying away from that....

Try Laughing Cow soft swiss cheese (Walmart Deli). 1/2 wedge on Melba Toast. Yummy. I also eat the things listed above but can't hold much so I supplement with a protein shake daily. That way I am sure to get in what I need and still enjoy food. Laurie -40lbs!

Well I can barely eat anything. The only thing I seem to be able to get down is the inside of a burrito..like beans and cheese, and beef. I can do an omlet with cheese and diced (I mean diced) Ham. Today I tried somethign new. I got a crab cake from SAMS. It has 150 cals and 16 grams of protein. I was able to eat 3/4's of it and it is staying down so far. I am also able to get down small (I mean small) bites of a chicken and cheese quesidella. I am not understanding why Mexican food seems to work but I eating anything else. Chicken Tuna :barf Broth Soup double Sugar Free anything Cottege Cheese I live on vitamins, water 1 shake a day and if I am lucky one of the above mentioned items. Denise 336/300
